Hi again!
I sure hope I have found this and set it up correctly.  Boy, have the past
6 months been (as the teens would say) "jacked up".  In June we went to
Oregon (remember?) then arrived back in July... to start a remodel project.
Well, July 31 we had a huge storm and it flooded our existing house and we
lost EVERYTHING.  The computers were fried from the electrical storm, not
to mention the water damage... we had 6 inches of water downstairs.  Ughh!
Well, then we found out that our contractors were ripping us off to the
tune of 25 thousand dollars (ouch) so in order to recoop some of our
losses, we are doing the insurance work ourselves.  We are finally back
into our house again, although it's still not done.  We lived in trailers
on our property for over 6 months while we eradicated the mold, etc.
Anyway, I've sure missed you guys and hope that everyone's okay!  I am in
the midst of a flare, but trying to get through.  Yesterday I crashed, and
today I'm slow...  I have supersores on the roof of my mouth so it's hard
to eat or drink.  Anyway, lots to catch up on...

Hi Kristin,
WOW!
Your past 6 months have been *stoked!!
(our *canadian teens say that... not jacked just btw - lol)
You lay low for awhile now and get yourself back onto your feet
healthy!
Good to see you back though so sorry bout all your woes;
specially the house thingy and losing your stuff... imo terrible
to go through.... good luck to you and well wishes heading your
way!
Hugs from Shelagh

Hi Shelagh,
Thanks for writing back- it's good to hear from you again.  I like the
teen jargon- it sure does vary from area to area...  :)  Stoked down
here means jazzed, excited, etc.
I have been lying low- not much choice, I'm afraid.  I work really hard
on the days I can, then crash for "x" amount of days.  (It varies.)  I
have been working on the decor for the new drywall- the kids' room is
Renaissance, our room is romantic fantasy, dining room/kitchen is
winery, living room will be lodge...  downstairs bathroom is an outhouse
(well, decorated like one- I put an angled tin roof in and everything)
and the kids' bathroom upstairs is all old Coke memorabelia.  I haven't
gotten to the laundry or guest bedrooms yet.  We still have to paint the
outside- ugh!
Well, I have to go- it's Jazz night tonight at the high school and my
daughter is working it.  :)
Thanks for writing again,  now tell me how you're doing...?

The house sounds wonderful! We've had quite a bit of remodeling here on the
NG between my old money pit, Shelagh's old house and Wes buying a home.
Doing it yourself is hard but in the end I think is worth more than paying
someone else to do it.

I'm so glad you are back. I've missed you. How are the girls? Is your oldest
graduating from HS this year?

fun.We have done a lot of work on our house too. More the standard stuff.
Texturing the walls and painting. Hang in there. Hugs to you. Wende

Hello-
You guys did your own texturing of your drywall?  I'm impressed!  We
hired someone to come out and skip-trowel the walls.  I really like the
way it turned out.  I faux painted the walls like old Mediterrenean
stone walls.  I like it.  On other walls, I painted that Ralph Lauren
faux sueded paint- it looks really neat!  What are you painting?

Hi again Kristin
Bev was right about all the rennos going on here in the NG... she
forgot to mention Michael too though... he bought a house with a
beautiful yard and he and his new puppy are having a great time
fixing it up too.
Your place sounds very nice... you have some creative themes
going on.. you'll have to take some pics and put them up at
photoisland? I'd love to see what you have done.. Bev has a site
where you can see her house and area.
I am doing okay considering all. You make sure to take care of
you first and the house second though!
Hugs from Shelagh
Kristin - 29 Mar 2004 22:32 GMT
Howdy again,
Another glutton for punishment in the house area, huh?  Seems like we
are in the midst of an epidemic. haha...  Love the idea of a new puppy,
though!  We had a litter of 6 beagles on August 9th- they're all at
their new homes now, but they were a God-send while we were in the
middle of the trauma/stress from the flood.  I am very thankful for
them, that's for sure!
I would like to see the photos- I forgot where they were.  (Lost the
link... )  I need to take some photos of the house anyway, so maybe I'll
put some online for you all, too!  :)
Keep reminding me, I have NO memory lately.   haha

Hi there!
Wow, I guess I'm not alone in my house "stuff"... I have taken to giving
condolences when people tell me that they're building/remodeling/adding
on to their homes... haha
Thanks so much for asking about the kids- they're great!  The oldest is
a Jr. and is taking those SAT's, ACT's, AP', the PSAT, etc.  She has her
eye on Cal Poly SLO mostly, but still likes some others as well.  Lauren
(youngest) is in Mock Trials and the band (still playing sax).  They
keep me busy.  Of course, both are still flying :)
Today I am trying to catch up, but falling sadly behind...
What are you doing with your house?

Oh, tiling. I'll try to give you the nutshell version of this saga. It all
started when the washing machine overflowed up through the downstairs toilet
and I convinced my hubby to pull the toilet as it make snaking the line
easier. (ROTFLMAO, I knew eventually it would be funny someday.) Well, nine
months later with a limited budget and very limited time for a couple of
do-it-yourself-ers we are just about ready to tile the kitchen floor. And
since the weather is better for building fences we are back to that project.
Also scraping about 100 years of paint off the porch.

We've got to catch up! Tell the girls I said "HI!"

hahahaha... boy can I relate!  Just now I was talking with hubby asking
him when we were going to restart our 3 rail fence and he just said
"don't count on anything until Fall"...  since we have so much work to
do "inside" and "on" the house, everything "outside" will have to wait
awhile.
Boy, I hate water in the house, don't you???!!  Good luck on the tile-
boy there sure are some beautiful arrangements available now!!  Do you
have a Lowes or Home Depot out where you are?  Lowes has some great
stuff.. metallic tiles, patterned tiles, renaissance tiles, mosaic...  I
could go on- I sure would love to have a chance to tile "something"...
with an unlimited budget, of course!
Hang in there, we can all band together!

Hi Bruce!
I sure do hope that no one else here has gone through the loss of all of
their security to a flood...  Yikes.  I wouldn't wish this on the short
list of people I'd never wish anything on.. hahaha.. but especially not
anyone here!!!
You're right about the people that want to steal your faith in
"people"... it broke us not only financially, but it really caused my
husband and I both to shed a lot of tears when we were ripped off like
that.  It just got to be too much, you know?  But we are pulling
ourselves up by our bootstraps and plugging along- saying "Grrr!" all
the way, eh?  :)
How are you doing?

Hi Rhonda,

Tell your 13- year old I like his style- and the 14 year old that they're
both right- it's just not right.  But what doesn't break us makes us
stronger!  I keep reminding myself that God won't give us more than we can
bear.  I questioned it when it was raining in the kitchen, but now I see
that He's given us an even better kitchen.
How are you doing?

It sounds like you have a great kitchen. I love my kids styles. They are
pretty neat kids. I took the thirteen year old with me to get my meds and I
asked him if he wanted to stop and get a rootbeer float at A&W. It was great
thats something we used to do when he was several years younger.
God never gives us anything more than we can bear because he knows us well.
Now you have a better kitchen. I  am ok trying to get through a nasty flare.
I am awaiting my lab work results to see if anything has changed. I stepped
on barbed wire last night and cut open my left foot. Other than that I am
doing pretty well.
How are you ?

Kristin - 29 Mar 2004 22:40 GMT
Ouch, ouch, ouch!  Just thinking about barbed wire in your foot makes me
feel that pain...  Is it better now?  Ouch ouch ouch....
I love A&W- I used to go there when I was a teen in Fillmore, CA.
Nothing better than a root beer freeze on a hot day!  :)
I sure do hope that your labs come back okay- I just had mine done and
doc says that I'm the same.  Now is that good or bad?
I'm doing okay- lots of stress.  Hubby is an engineer on the X-43
program (did you see it on TV?) and was one of the guys running the show
on board the B-52 when it dropped (he pulled the pins so it dropped and
monitored the experiment).  He's really happy about how it went!  I got
to watch the whole thing from NASA in the Ops room, surrounded by
astronauts, etc.  Afterwards we went to a post-flight news conference
and then to a post-flight party.  I stayed out too late and am now
paying the price, but it was worth it to see my hubby in the spotlight.
He will be the head guy on ship 3 (his will go mach 10) and they started
work on it today.  Anyway, there was a lot of worry these past days
working up to the flight (there was more than you can imagine riding on
the success of this flight), and now the recovery from the stress is
under way.  Mouth sores are better for me, so I actually got to eat
solid food.  yeah!
When do you get labs back?
