Bayer Multistix 10SG Expiration Dates

Hi everyone,

I have spent an inordinate amount of time searching while trying to find out
the following info and failed (including all kinds of Bayer sites, and
various combinations of search criteria).  And I could not find any toll
free numbers for Bayer, and I have called my local pharmacies with no help
from the pharmacists either.

I would like to know the following about Bayer Multistix 10SG strips (for
urinary testing) before I order them on the Internet.  Each bottle contains
100 test strips.

- What is the expiration date of the test strips *after* you have opened the
bottle.  This is very important to me, since they are rather expensive, and
I don't think I would order them if it is less than 6 months, and naturally
keeping the bottle tightly closed immediately after getting a strip out.

- Does anyone have any idea what the unopened expiration dates are on a
bottle (e.g. two or three years from the date of manufacture, or what).  If
I order on the Internet, I will not know what the unopened expiration date
is, but it would be more reassuring to know it might be well into the
future.

I would appreciate any info you have.  Thanks...Pete

Google on
Bayer Multistix 10SG Expiration
seems to give plenty of info. Just from the first page of hits, I
found the following, both of which explicitly address your question.

If you want to contact Bayer, why not use the toll free number given
at their web site, "Contact" page. Or send them a note thru their web
form -- which might have the advantage of letting someone look up the
info and reply in writing.

Someone else already responded with the info about the expiration date.
But I would like to know what purpose you are intending to use these.
Are you buying the urine controls to test with each strip or each day
of testing? How will you know that the strip is working correctly? If
you are doing this for your own use do you really need all the tests on
the 10SG? Pharmacies do sell other test strips for glucose and ketones
for management of diabetics.

John...I have multiple health problems and have been studying medicine for
15 years.  I am getting them for a piece of mind, since I have been to over
75 doctors in my life and have nothing to show for it.  I am not buying the
urine controls, and will have to trust the strips.  I do not have diabetes.
