After 30 some odd yrs I have seen all those gripes, and it just never seems
to get better no matter what management tool is used. I'd like to add a few
more:
The nurse who complains when we cancel a hemolyzed CBC saying that "it
wasn't hemolysed when it left the ER"

Or the one who complains when we cancel a clotted CBC - she actually stated
that she took the clot out before she sent it!

I also have to note that this is the first year in the last few when we
didn't have to listen to Loretta Laroche - my manager's favorite
motivational video. We also worked to spread the food around to all the
shifts and also ran a door decorating contest that included all shifts and
departments.

<lol> I've heard that one before.
It's even worse in Chemistry.
They always blame hemolysis on _us_!

Yeah right. I've watched them draw from IV sites and pull the syringe
plunger ALL the way back to get blood into the syringe! You try to warn
them and they just give you a dirty look.

So you end up coming back and re-drawing it and they still act like it
was not their fault. ;-(

<chokes> OH my gods!

Reminds me of my last year in MT school working in a phlebotomy lab...
The girls were "street trained" and some did not even graduate from high
school.

They just did not understand why you could not remove a clot from a CBC
or Coag. tube. :-P
