Tea Tree Oil is good for all sorts of things. And many with oral herpes say
that it really works well for them.
However, you can't put the actual Tea Tree Oil on your skin. It can cause many
problems that way. Hence, the TTO is generally mixed in with something else.
Look for some kind of ointment in the health food store that seems to feel like
a good bet for you.
My personal experience? Can't use it. If I use any product with TTO in it, I
break out with acne.

Keep in mind that Tea Tree Oil is not a herpes antiviral, it doesn't reduce
asymptomatic shedding, it is not recommended for suppressive therapy, and it
doesn't cut transmission in half.
> Does anyone use it? Also what is it good for?
I don't use Tea Tree Oil but I do have a feedback - comment page for those
that have tried Tea Tree Oil or know a little something about Tea Tree Oil:

You already know what you need to do to treat your herpes outbreaks.
If you are looking for something to deal with the page there is an excellent
section about over the counter products that can be used for pain relief
over on www.westoverheights.com where the free herpes handbook information
is posted.
Hang in there,
Angela ;-)
PS If anybody has any more Tea Tree Oil comments please don't hesitate to
send them to me and I will be more than happy to add those to the page:

Okay thanks, but if it is in some OTC products can you tell me which ones?
My mother told me about something that you can get at Whole Foods Market and
it is called Rescue Cream, which is not an antiviral but just something to
soothe painful skin problems. The thing is that I am the only person in my
family that has genital herpes, so I really don't have too many people that
I know of that can provide feedback. Even my girlfriend who has had it 12
years isn't that knowledgeable about it. A couple of other family members
also have HPV from what I understand, but that's the least of my worries
when it comes to bothersome symptoms...
I know I should probably be taking Valtrex, especially since I have 1-2 OB's
a month, but I cannot afford it right now and really don't want to be taking
that kind of drug. I have already taken Valtrex for a short time and I
really didn't see that much improvement. I hoping this calms down in the
near future.

Here is a patient assistance program:

Acyclovir is not expensive if you don't qualify for the program.
Hopefully you will get some relief soon Tom..

Thanks for the links Angela, I know I won't qualify for the assistance
program. My income isn't that low, its just that I am kind of overstretched
(living beyond my means) so I cannot afford an added monthly cost right now.
I'd have to give up my 2005 car and I would rather not...so I'll just be
hopeful for now...

Acyclovir is dirt cheap ~
It seems to me that you continue to send reports of discomfort but unwilling
to do anything about it.
I really don't know what to tell you any more.

I know, but I like to complain sometimes...more often then not...gives me
something to do :of)
I am eating better, taking alot of vitamins, and I am back on the lysine. I
am sure most people living with herpes are in some pain. Its the nature of
the virus.

Actually ~ most people that have herpes simplex virus are in no pain at all.
Take Care,
Angela ;-)

That is pretty likely that most people with genital herpes are not in pain
since 90% of those infected don't know it. I guess I am in the 10% club, and
that makes sense because I have always had a low pain threshold.
Its not that I am in pain all the time, but I do have episodes where I am in
more pain and have constant reminders that I have herpes, so I cannot forget
it that easily. Maybe I will consider taking valtrex on a reg basis if this
keeps up, but I want to see if I can do it naturally with vitamins and diet
and boosting my immune system first. Most of my outbreak problems happen
when I am sick anyway. I think that part of the problem is that I used
Cortisone Cream on a bug bite around the time that the OB started so I am
wondering if that boosted the OB also.
Yes I admit I do complain alot, but that's normal.
