Some of the more long standing members have probably heard of this product
'Never an Outbreak' many times before. It's basically increasing oxygen in the body using DMSO cream and drinking liquid oxygen diluted in water. You can find the site on the net.
I just wonder whether anyone else has tried it and how effective or otherwise it was. I been trying it for months now and it hasn't worked at all for me, not one bit, it's crap. I e mailed them throughout and they still insist it's got to be something I'm doing wrong - maybe it is but it's a convenient way of getting themselves off the hook by turning the blame round. They claim that it's always effective and always works. If you read the site you would think it was 'the answer' . There's a lot of testimonials too. I may try again but am going to give coraphor a go first. Anyone else got any opinions or experience ?
I believe that there must be quite a lot of success with many of these alternative products in stopping the symptoms at least, but if anyone here knows of a success story it would perhaps be more convincing

Yep. Many many times.

>I just wonder whether anyone else has tried it

I've been reading this group since 1999 and I've lost count of the
number of people who have asked about it here over the years. The
response here has always been pretty much the same. The use of DMSO is
not only ineffective, it can be downright dangerous. And I don't
recall anyone here ever saying that they've tried it with good
results.... except the occasional spammer that sells the stuff.
Usually when someone asks about it here, we never hear from them
again. Not sure what to make of that except that it didn't work for
them... or it killed them.
So thanks for coming back with a report. Please be careful if you
continue to use it.

Well I guess that there's a possibility that if it worked  for someone they
wouldn't have to come onto the newsgroup and get support as they'd be
hopping down the road eyeing up the birds and looking forward to a herpes
free life. But I would have expected that if it had worked that one way or
another people would get to find out.
Have you tried a lot of alternative therapies ? And over the years have many
people on this group been successful in stopping their symptoms by the use
of differing therapies ?

Speaking only for myself, I've tried:

Pytohealing (now out of business)
Tetrasil (seems like it had no positive effects)
Herpasil (soothing, at least)

Now I'm trying Herpestat from Origin Biomedicinals (not much luck so far)

Honestly, one thing that's _really_ worked for me (though it's messy) is
A&D Zinc Oxide baby cream for a couple of reasons:

* Dries the sores
* Helps with the itch

Joe, if you're interested in following development of herpes treatments,
might I recommend

Also, there's a forum on that same site where they discuss alternative
treatments such as you tried:

Best luck!

I've tried putting Abreva on the genital sores and although it helps a
little, it doesn't do that much for me. The other thing I tried is Caldesene
Zinc Oxide powder, which helps to dry and cool the sores a little. Most of
the time my sores are pretty small and painless, like pinchy pimples at
most, but I have had some really itchy and painful ones from time to time.
One time I was burning so much from some sores, I felt like there was
Tabasco sauce down yonder and I resorted to putting ice down there, which
helped a little for a short time...but that's about it.
