Hello,
well i am really weird about putting medication into my body. It would
be nice not to get outbreaks anymore, but i would feel bad to take a
pill everyday, ya never know in the long run what it is doing to your
body.
and just to take them everytime i feel one coming on, i think would be
a pain to go the pharmasist and pay WAY to much money, so i deal with
it, it usually isn't that bad, what sucks is the before an outbreak
stage, (pain in the legs, needles shootin in your nerves) ya know all
that stuff.
it usally is gone in a week. i have the worst one yet.. very painfull..
:(

I also won't take the meds. I think you are very wise to not bother with them.
This could just be stress. Either way, your body is going through something.
Make sure you are eating healthy and getting as much rest as you can right now.
Have you tried just plain old ibuprofin for the pain and swelling? It worked
for me. I have terrible neuralgia pain before an outbreak.
You might want to consider trying some L-lysine. It might help?? And taking a
look online for the foods high in arginine. Skip the foods high in L-arginine.

There is some great reading about L-lysine here:

I hope there is no implication in your post ar that those of us that have
bothered with Famvir, Acyclovir, or Valtrex (proven antivirals) are unwise.
Take Care,

Angela,
Everyone makes their own decisions as to whether to take drugs or not. For
those of us to choose not to, there is usually a very good reason for it. And
therefore, it is very wise of us to choose to not take them.

that the rest of us have to do the same thing.
I am only able of sharing what has worked for me personally..
