Could I be infected?

Hello,

Been reading up quite a bit on this subject in the past couple of days.
Early last week, I had unprotected Oral Sex with a woman where she gave
me a "blow job" (apologize if I should be using another term). A
worry-a-holic by nature, I began to worry about this. The individual in
question didn't seem to have any blisters or cold soares but worried
anyways.

Anyhow, while I was reading up on it and started reading about the
symptoms of a first outbreak, I began to always be on alert, like i'm
checking my genitals every couple of hours etc.. you know, overdoing it.
Anyhow, on Sunday evening, I noticed redness on the shaft of my penis,
near the rim and redness in the same area on the rim. The next morning,
it had cleared up significantly and by last night, it was almost all
gone and by today, I hardly see anything there.

I am little uneasy about this but am thinking the redness could have
originated from me checking and touching numerous times prior? I
don't/didn't have any swollen glands, fever, pain in buttocks or legs
etc.. I did have some itchiness near the scrotum but it was extremely
mild and isn't uncommon for me to get this type of itchiness there.

Does the redness usually develop into itching/burning and then
blisters/scabs? Because for me, it was red for less than a day? If I was
infected, would it be HSV1 since it came from Oral?

Thanks in advance.

There's another term but this is the one that everybody understands.

Could be..... or any number of other things. Even tight pants.

>Does the redness usually develop into itching/burning and then

Yep. That's generally the drill. Not always though. Sometimes the
blisters just never show up and that's the end of the outbreak.
Sometimes nothing ever shows up at all.

If it came from Oral it would probably be type one... only because
type 2 oral isn't very common. Type 2 from a blow job wouldn't be
impossible though. Just highly unlikely.

Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it if you're having no symptoms. Even
if you had a blood test (after 12-16 weeks) that showed positive for
type 1, without symptoms you wouldn't know whether it was located
genitally or orally or where it came from or when. On the other hand,
at least you'd know you're infected somewhere somehow. That's better
than being totally in the dark.
Anyhow, good luck and let us know how it goes.

M2,

Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated. Wish I could eliminate my
worries with the tight pants thought by I haven't worn tight pants since
the 80's:) One more question, which may sound stupid... Let's say this
woman was infected with HIV as well, would her ability to spread HSV1
(or maybe HSV2) give her the ability to spread HIV at the same time
through oral sex?

To be honest, the info I have on the hsv/hiv relationship isn't from
expert sources. From what I understand though, hiv is transmitted more
easily if there is easy access such as a cut or open sore available,
that type thing. Naturally, during a herpes outbreak, the lesions
would make for easier entry of the hiv virus than otherwise. If there
is more to it than that, I'm unaware of it.
So going by that, in your example, the woman wouldn't spread hiv any
more easily than otherwise given the fact that there would be no
herpes outbreak involved at the time.
Like I say, I'm no expert but that's my understanding.
