From my own experience, I've yet seen the classic herpes outbreak
(thankful for that) but I've been experiencing those podrome symptoms
as far back as 4-5 years ago. Of course I've only started keeping
track of these strange sensations in the last 12 months after getting
my results from a blood test. To date, I still don't know where my
site of infection is but I am assuming both since I have both type I
and II.
My suggestion? Go get tested and then you can trully move on. Herpes
is no big deal really but you can only start believing in that after
you know you have it, not before. Good luck!

pat
You can go years without ever having an outbreak. Or, you might not have an
outbreak at all. It's possible that you have herpes, anyway, and picked it
up from any number of sexual partners.
One doesn't have to be a sex worker to have an std....

And condoms help but since they don't cover everything, they don't protect
everything 100%. You're not totally nuts to worry, but I'd have to say your
chances, from what you describe are pretty slim. And if you do have it,
then you already know how little it will affect you physically.
Often you have to pay for the Western Blot out of pocket anyway. If you
want it and you're truly freaking, out unwarranted or not, it may very well
be worth the hundred bucks to get it. No doctor should refuse you one.
Imagine the liability if they do AND you have something. The test itself
isn't dangerous, just a little pricey, and if you're willing to pay, there's
no reason they shouldn't give it to you, in my humble opinion.

Ok ~ Well ~ the only way you are going to find out for sure if you have
herpes is to be tested for herpes.
You can check out all the testing possibilities in the 'testing' section
