I am at the end of my outbreak, feeling much better aside from some minor
aches in the thighs and back and today I noticed the strangest thing. I saw
this boil like thing that looked like a big red pimple/hive (and it is sore)
on the back of the calf area about two inches from the back of the knee. I
know that people say that genital herpes is in the "boxer short area" are
there exceptions? This is the only one and I haven't seen that before! Even
the blisters I had in the genital region were no where like that.

Thanks,
Tom

No, generally a spot for herpes.  Please go to the doctor today and have it
cultured.

Yeah a culture, if possible, would be the best thing to do.  Did you happen
to notice if a hair was coming through this calf sore?  I too once thought
that I was getting one on my thigh, but noticed that a hair was sticking
straight out through the middle, and after reading up more about it, I'm
inclined to believe it was folliculitis in my case.

No there is no hair sticking out of it. I think its just a big pimple, I'm
not going to make much of it right now. I put some Abreva that I put on the
coldsore and put it on the pimple on the calf. It went down a little. I am
more concerned over the herpes right now. My persistent lower back ache and
sore burning sensation on top of the thighs is all I can think about right
now.
