That lower back ache in not particularly rare. I get something like
that occasionally, though not as bad as what you sound like you
have.
Sorry to hear this thing is so lingering, but maybe you'll get it
figured out before too long.
Hell, ask your Doc for some Valtrex. The clinic here gave me a
bunch of samples before I even took the blood test, though the
visual diagnosis was fairly unequivocal.

Oh believe me, I am going to ask about valtrex, even though I don't have
this happen more than 4 times a year or so, its painful when it does.

I also followed a friends advice and started taking Lysine about 500-1000 mg
per day. I noticed a good improvement in the urinary burning problems and
the lower back and tailbone pain and leg pain. I think its helping to speed
the recovery a little anyway. I heard about this other cream called Rescue
Cream that you can buy at Whole Foods and it is OTC. I guess you can put
that on the sores if they hurt. I wonder if you can also put Abreva (for
coldsores) on the genital sores?
