Is this an outbreak?

As I mentioned in my previous posts, I do not believe I ever had an
outbreak.  I was diagnosed with HSV2 in January.

I get cold sores on my lip a couple of times a year.
My doctor told me that a HSV2 outbreak, would feel the same, except the
tingling will be in my genital area.

Now earlier tonight, I decided to ahem, pleasure myself.

When I was getting started, I thought to myself, "something feels
different"
The head of my penis felt, scaly, like a bad case of dry skin.

So I took a look at it, and it was white, like when you have a patch of
dry skin.

Then upon further inspection, it looked like there were red dots all
over the head.
But, I think they are only blood vessels, as the red dots seem to be
below the skin.

So the main issue is the dry/scaly skin.

If I did not touch the area, I would not have noticed anything, so
there is no pain, tingling, or anything.

Outbreak?  What other thing is it?

How were you diagnosed? Blood test?

How does he know your HSV2 is genital instead of oral? ... or
someplace else for that matter.

Maybe... maybe not.  Herpes has an extremely wide range of varying
symptoms. I wouldn't rule it out .... or in for that matter.
As far as I know, the only practical way of pinning this particular
symptom down to a cause is by culture, so see your doctor. But if it's
a Herpes outbreak, you'll need to have the swab done very early in the
outbreak. Otherwise the risk of a false negative result is pretty
high.
The test might turn up some other cause though. Could be practically
anything.

Your doctor is about twenty years behind the times.  It has been
found that HSV1 and HSV2 can each be transmitted to any place on the
body.  Yes, HSV1 *prefers* the oral region, and HSV2 *prefers* the
genital region, but those preferences can be overridden.  It is
estimated that 30% of new genital herpes cases in North America are
caused by the HSV1, the traditionally oral, virus.

It's difficult to say.  Yes, it could be HSV,  but it could be dry
skin, or something else.

It's almost impossible to diagnose anything on Usenet, and even a
clear opinion should not be relied on at all.  If the problem
appears to warrant it, see a doctor.

Take care,

BranLee,

There are so many different things it could be that the only way to know for
sure is to see a doctor.

Take care,

Probably an outbreak cleverly disguised as a yeast infection or the two
together.

Maybe, because I had something similar recently. I'm the guy that only had
the sores in the back. Well guess what? Last week I happened to be kind of
itchy in the front, and I looked down there and there was some white scaly
skin near the top base of the penis and one small red blister (that looked
filled with blood). The blister never popped, but got smaller and smaller
until it disappeared in 4 days. Since I had this, I ended up with lower back
pain, throbbing aches in the testicles, sore feeling in the scrotum and
occasional leg aches and pains especially in the left knee! So I am not
really sure this is an outbreak or not, but these symptoms are a first for
me.
