We've talked here a little about the various Herpes viruses other than
the Simplex Virus (that we are mainly concerned with).  I think KSHV
also goes by the name HHV-8 which is not at all the same virus as
Simplex.  I know very little about KSHV though (how it's transmitted
etc). If anybody'd care to elaborate, I'd be interested.
Just thought I'd mention this now in case somebody runs across this
article:

http://www.betterhumans.com/News/news.aspx?articleID=2005-03-02-1

"Ornella Flore and colleagues from New York University School of
Medicine have now shown that a chemical in licorice can inhibit the
expression of latency genes in Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpes virus
(KSHV).

KSHV is the virus associated with Kaposi's sarcoma, a condition
characterized by tumors below the skin that's often found in people
with immunodeficiencies".

And I wonder if licorice (the candy) would have any effect on Simplex?

Cheers,
M2

A chemical that does something with kidneys...

http://pubs.acs.org/cen/whatstuff/stuff/8032licorice.html

I was hoping it would tie licorice with tarragon, but it mentioned
anise instead (which is a different chemical, I deem) and so now I'm
going to run a search on all three (and maybe HSV, too).

O'er and O'ut.
