Hello,

I called the lab today and they STILL don't have any info yet and told me to
try tomorrow, but it could be as late as Saturday, because herpes tests can
take up to 7 days. I am wondering why it would take up to 7 days. What
happens if it takes less time? Does it mean that the virus has stopped
growing early and is a smaller load on the immune system or does it mean
that the test takes longer because the incubation is taking longer to
register and therefore a smaller level?

If I don't have herpes, I don't know what it is, because I have nearly all
the symptoms including burning during urination and in general in the penis
and even some weird things like aching in the testicles, burning at the sole
of the feet, occasional aching in the legs that feel like a sciatic nerve.

I think in one of your posts you mentioned the Western Blot test.
Is that the test you had?  If so, it always takes a week or so,
partly because it has to be mailed off to Washington State.  Is the
number you are calling for results somewhere in or around Seattle?

If not, then, I dunno.

Could be, but wait for the results.  I know it's not easy.

Take care,

Mike

Hello,

I really don't know if it is the western blot or not. I thought it was, but
I just went to the clinic in my city and talked to the doctor and asked to
be tested, after he was unsure what it was. They ordered a test for herpes 1
and 2, and sent it to an outside lab, but I don't know where. They didn't
tell me to call anywhere else. I am just supposed to follow-up with the lab
to get the results.

Could sore muscles, tiredness and a slight fever like 99.4 be other signs of
herpes? Because I have healed all my sores, but now I have this down feeling
with a headache and slight temp.

Thanks,
Tom

Most tests that I know about, except for the Western Blot, take a
couple or three days.  Western Blots take a week.

You can ask the lab what kind of test, and even better, you should
ask for a hard copy of the test results, which they should be glad
to give you.  That should tell you exactly what kind of test you
had, as well as giving you a permanent reference to all the various
numbers returned.

Yes.  Herpes can cause all the usual flu-like symptoms, especially
if it's a relatively recent infection (though it can be a bother
that way later, too).  The herpes virus presents the same kind of
strain on a body that other viruses do.  The immune system kicks
into high gear.  The lymphatic systems become overloaded.  Etc.

I don't recall you saying, but did your doc give you a prescription
or anything?

Take care.

Mike
