Product Warning Letter from the F.D.A. to the Parent Co. of ColdSoreGone...

Back in August of 1999 the U.S. Food & Drug Administration felt the
need to send the company "Scientific Health Products", which
ColdSoreGone calls its "mother company", a "Warning Letter".  The
complaint alleges "false and misleading" labeling, and "misbranded"
products.

I'm tellin' ya, these people are scumbags, through and through.

A facsimile of the letter is available from the following page,
where "Scientific Health Products" is number eleven on the list...

http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/wlcfm/date_archive.cfm?MONTH=8&YEAR=1999

... OR, the PDF file can be pulled directly from...

http://www.fda.gov/foi/warning_letters/m2853n.pdf

Typical internet scumbags using some some slick marketing,
unscrupulous "associates" like Allen, inflated prices, and the fear
factor to separate people from their money.

Just say NO to spammers.  If they had a legitimate product they
wouldn't have to try to sell it on Usenet.

Mike -

Thank you for sharing where you got the information that the FDA sent us a
warning letter.

I need to ask you, though. Could there be more than one company in existence
called "Scientific Health Products"?

This is not a letter to our company, even though we have the same name.

If you look closely, this letter was not for anything having to do with
Viroxyn, which is one of two products that we sell.

We did not exist in 1999.

This is a Utah company.

We are located in Illinois, as it says on our website.

We have never done business as "Natural Wonders", and we have never sold any
of the products that are listed in that letter.

Now I ask you, could there be any possibility that this letter was to
another company with the same name?

I'll take your word for that, and apologize for the error.

Neither did Viroxyn.

Certainly, though last night I deemed that the odds were fairly low
that there were TWO "Scientific Health Products".  I'll look into it
further and see if I can find out what happened to the *other* one.

Hi Mike -

As you can see, I've gotten rid of any reference to our website, and I'm
just "Allen" now.

I was wondering:

Were you able to look into the other "Scientific Health Products" yet?

I did look, but only found the following, about 85% of the way down
the page, at:

http://www.seniorjournal.com/NEWS/Nutrition-Vitamins/2-06-04AntiAgProducts.htm

"Scientific Health Products"

"Primary claims were various disease treatment claims, including
'prevents degenerative disease and age-related health problems,'
most commonly, heart disease and cancer."

"Issued warning letter in August 1999, with follow-up inspection in
July 2000."

"Company modified claims for some, but not all, products, and
destroyed some catalogs. In May 2001, company agreed to cease
operation."

*****************

Adios to them.

I also found something resembling your Bio, and it appears you were
not living in Utah, nor participating in the drug biz during the
time the other Scientific Health Products was in business, but from
your reaction to the FDA letter I posted, your honesty on that
matter wasn't really in doubt.  To be frank, now that I feel like
I've gotten to know you just a little bit better, you seem like an
honest fellow.  A little misguided, perhaps, but basically honest.

I also searched for the Dr Wimmer who ran the first S.H.P. and found
nothing.  Nothing on the brains behind Quadex.

I poked around a bit looking at Debacterol, but only enough to note
that it looks like another product that is priced about eleventy
times higher that it oughta be.  But, strictly speaking, that's
between you, them, and the buyer, and none of my business, until it
starts creeping around the edges of free forums, like this one (or
into my email box, though the automatic trashcan there, works real
swell.)

Naturally, though, my curiosity is somewhat piqued as to how a nice,
slightly misguided guy like you ended up in the biz so close to the
bottom of the internet feeding barrel.  Not that there's anything
wrong with that.  And, I suppose, too, that's really none of my
business, either.

Well thanks for clearing that up.

My company, Scientific Health Products, LLC, based in Bloomington, IL has
never received a warning letter from the FDA.

We have nothing to do with the company by the same name which was mentioned
earlier.

Great.

Well, .... thanks for that.

I find that you are doing your best to help others around here, too.

Keep up the good work.
