Peeling lips for 4 months after a cold sore

Hi everyone!

I never had a cold sore until the beginning of the summmer when I got
a bit of a sunburn...The cold sore went through it's normal stages -
itchy, weepy, and then peeled.  But even though I haven't gotten a NEW
cold sore, my lips ever since (for 4 months now) have been constantly
peeling and re-peeling.  No matter how much lip balm, moisturizer,
etc. - it won't stop.  Also, I've used several tubes of Abbreva with no result.

Is this still something to do with the cold sore or has it turned into
something different?  I've never had this much trouble with "dry"
lips, and it's different from your "typical" winter-time chapping.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Not to be facetious, but have you tried leaving it alone?

I searched around the net a bit, but didn't find much.  There's a
long discussion at the link, though...

There may be some good ideas or suggestions in there, somewhere.

Otherwise, you might want to talk to a dermatologist.

Take care,

Mike
