Hot Tub Questions

Hello,

I've genital herpes and have been diagnosed with HSV1 and HSV2 for over 2
years.  Due to stress, I've been having frequent outbreaks.  I've been
taking 1000-1500 mg of Valtrex a day and 4000-6000 mg of L-lysine daily with
little results.  I've been taking frequent soaks in my hot tub in an effort
to relieve stress.  Here are my questions:  Can the frequent soaks cause
autoinoculation of other ares of my body?  Can they cause my husband to get
infected (when we are in hot tub together)?  He currently has no signs of
HSV.  Can they keep me from healing?  Can they cause outbreaks?  I usually
keep the hot tub at 95-98 degrees... so it isn't super hot.  I've been
researching this online for hour and can't find information about this.

Thanks so much!!

No. The hot water would kill the virus pretty quickly.

No again, for the same reason.

>Can they keep me from healing?

Not sure on this one, but I think unlikely. Apply tea tree oil to the
lesions after your bath. This will help them to dry up.

It's certainly hot enough to kill any viruses that may be on your skin. A
hot tub would not cause an outbreak, but would not prevent one either.

Hope this has helped.

That helps, thanks!  I was lurking and read someone's post from 6-30-04
(can't remember who posted it) that said they were avoiding soaking in baths
due to risks of autoinoculation.  I've never heard that, so naturally, I was
worried!

I went nearly 2 years since my inital OB with hardly anything..... Now, I've
had this freaking outbreak for nearly 3 weeks.  It is so frustrating!  The
only thing that has changed is my stress level due to job.  I've been
getting alot of sleep, drinking water, taking vitamins, exercising....
Taking my Valtrex and Lysine faithfully.... Showering 2x a day, using a hair
dryer on cool, cornstarch powder.... This really sucks!!
