Hi

My partner of 2 years gets cold sores on his lips/nose area. We talked
about it a little early on in the relationship and he told me that
kissing or oral sex can pass on the virus but that he was careful and
had never infected a girlfriend.

Last night he gave me oral sex and this morning first thing he said he
could feel a cold sore coming and sure enough when we got up I can see
it appearing on his upper lip.

What is the likelyhood of my now getting herpes? I am particularly
concerned as I already have an autoimmune condition.

It's very difficult to say what the risks are.  Getting it is not a
sure thing, but there's no way to rule out the possibility.

You might want to talk to your autoimmune specialist.

Even if you don't pick up HSV this time, you might want to evaluate
what the risk means to you, with whatever conditions you already
have.

Take care,

Mike
