I have me a wee update. Finally got an apointment set up for the
clinic tomorrow (all the private Gynnie's in maryland have 80 year
waiting lists). Today after all the phone calls and the begging for
referals I noticed that I've manifested some bumpie bits. At least
it's a nice fresh thingie and I have a good chance of getting a proper
diagnosis. Now for the questions! This weekend I am looking at a 3 day
convention in which I will be walking for well over 16 hours all three
days. Is there anything I, being female can do to decrease my
impending irritation and pain? How the hell long does it take for this
to go away anyway? I've been in what I guess is painful produm
(spelling?) for 2 weeks and just now I'm getting the sores. I'm pretty
sure I was done with the first OB in just under 2 weeks. Is it
possible that because I didn't have sores the first time that this is
technically the real first OB? Also How long does it take for the
valtrax cream to work and is it meant to be used on girlie bits?
*sigh* I've been waiting for this damn convention since the day after
last years... It's always something.

Did you try plain old bandaids? and maybe some of that anti-bacterial cream?
There's no bacteria... but it's certainly is soothing.

Bandaids don't work well on girlie parts, Pain.

well fr me ;-)

Take Ibuprofin or aspirin.  It really helps.

Thanks for the input Grant and Pain :) At the clinic, the lady
brandishing the ice cold plastic implement of mass destruction (aka
the doctor) did a visual diagnosis (they were out of cultures) of
positive and slapped my sorry butt on Acyclovir as a suppressive since
my husband is still negatory. I'm kinda shocked that he's viewing this
as no big deal. I guess in the long and short of my personal situation
it kinda isn't. Then again he may have a million other things going on
in his cute little gothic head that he isn't letting on.
Take care and be well!

My ex never thought twice about my virus.  It just wasn't an issue for him.
I would hope that your husband thinks the same.  :)

Good luck.

Just wanted to touch base with everyone in this time of stress.

Our samples went to U of W for the Western Blot on Tuesday and now we
wait for the results.  I've managed to put it out of my head for the
most part but the fear still comes up a fair bit and its hard to have
patience.

I know its almost sure that my girl has HSV1 as well, but I'm still
scared out of my wits that I'll be the only one with it and what that
will mean to our relationship.

Oy vey.

The results should be arriving some time next week, and as an added
bonus, my Mom will be visiting from out of town about when they
arrive.  And, I've recently 'come out' to her so it should be an
interesting visit.

I've tested positive for HSV1 without a single sign that I know of.
If stress can make re-occurences happen, this should about do it!

Thanks all for listening.

Hi JP,

Honestly, it doesn't do any good to worry about things that are out of your
control.  So, try to relax.  Whatever the test results are...it's already
happened.  Either she has it or she doesn't.  It takes a good three weeks to
get the results on the Western Blot.

Take care,

Yeeee! Thanks for the help! I just got back from the convention in
question. Had a blast and spent 300 bucks on almost nothing (I did get
a cute cat ear hat from the funamation booth). I loaded up on motrin
and brought anti-bacterial goo with me (which helped a hell of a lot).
I have to say being at the con was a wonderful thing, because it
helped me to realize that there is so much more to live for and so
many people who like you just cause you're you. Hehehe this is going
to sound so weird and kinda silly but if you ever feel really really
down go rent a few DVDs of Risky Safety... life is such a wonderful
thing even when you feel like the deck is stacked against you.
Much love and Many hugs!

*laughs* pain you dork! Guess you'd have to see them. Maybe one of
these days I'll get up the testicular fortatude to show a pic of me
wearing said cat ear hat.
Much hugs,
