You got it right. That's a bogus cream and won't do your body any good in
fighting the outbreaks.

As I recall, my initial outbreak was a blister type. So the cream perhaps
was to prevent bacterial infection. But its pretty much useless now as I
haven't blistered since.

Hmmm...but I still don't see what difference that makes. :) Herpes is a
virus and there are no bacteria running around a herpes blister. Perhaps
the doctor thought you had something else?
