This is what I use when I have an HSV1 outbreak, being a red spot on the
penis. My doc prescribed it to me 3 years ago when I was initially
diagnosed. Upon closer look, its an antibiotic cream. So in actual fact, it
is only for stopping bacterial infections and not to suppress the virus. So
all this time when I used this cream, my body was fighting the virus on its
own without any help?  Interesting. Any opinons?

You got it right.  That's a bogus cream and won't do your body any good in
fighting the outbreaks.

As I recall, my initial outbreak was a blister type. So the cream perhaps
was to prevent bacterial infection. But its pretty much useless now as I
haven't blistered since.

Hmmm...but I still don't see what difference that makes.  :)  Herpes is a
virus and there are no bacteria running around a herpes blister.  Perhaps
the doctor thought you had something else?
