Hi again everyone! I'm beginning to feel like I'm taking over this
board with all my questions!!! I'm in information-gathering mode at
the moment. Luckily I have a science background, so have been able to
read a few medical journals on the issue. But unfortunately, there is
no mention of whether outbreaks are more likely to occur with the more
sex you have. I have heard that friction etc can cause an outbreak.
I'm a little concerned that maybe the reason I haven't had an outbreak
in a year, is because it's been that long since I've had sex! Yikes!
Really starting to worry that when (if!!! ha!) I have sex again, it
could result in an outbreak.

Yes "friction" can be a trigger. They say "friction" instead of "Sex"
because, you don't need a partner to cause the "friction" if you know what I
mean. It's a very individule thing though... depends on who you are. If you
have more outbreaks, talk to your doc about supressive therapy like Valtrex
or something.

Hi Bec,

Don't worry about it.  You'll have to use lubricant - which definitely helps
with the friction problem.

The friction from sex can be a definite factor in frequency of flare ups.
Have you thought about suppression at all?
Perhaps using a good lubricant would help?

Hang in there -
