Ive had this about a year now (known 'officially' for 4 months, maybe
one day ill tell you THAT awful Dr. story) and I thought it was going
to just come back like 4x a year, like it says on the TV commercials.

Thank goodness I found you.  Is this the only friggin support group on
the net for this?  Ridiculous.  Anyway...

So I got into this rut recently, with switching jobs and moving, maybe
you've heard it before, but it goes like this:

Get sore throat, then feel like i have mono for 3 days, then "H"
comes, then 2-3 weeks pass in this way, where i dont do anything b/c i
dont have energy, and i eventually get over it.  Then i'm my active,
happy, horny self again (he knows) and we have great monkey sex, which
= friction, which equals the beginning of the cycle again.

He is so understanding and sweet and doesnt complain that we are
basically celibate, but this cycle for me has been going on for 3
months now, since i lost my old job.  I know its the stress, but what
can I do?  Im tempted to go out and pay for Valtrex, if you guys think
it will help- but a month supply for $200?  THATS $2,400 a YEAR!
"eating right" is not an option. Do the drugs work?

I'm in the same boat you're in... but luckily I don't have anyone to have
sex with and... er... ok, that's not lucky at all... oh, now I'm depressed
:-(

anyways, yea, get the drug. Angela has suggested lubrication in this forum
before as a remedy. I'm sure you could introduce that and your partner
wouldn't even have to know "why" you were using it... he'd just think it was
fun. You could get flavours... strawberry... lemon... and maybe some of that
stuff that gets warm when you blow on it... oh God... I need to meet a girl!

Yes, the drugs work.  And at...

http://www.drugplace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=17

... 100 units of 400mg acyclovir go for $27.49.

Talk to your doctor about it.

Take care,

Mike

<snip> Maybe not the only one but you wont find more caring,
intelligent, informative or downright COOL people elsewhere.
Good luck finding answers.

Thanks for your responses.

Eating right- i need coffee to survive.  nothing can change that.  Ive
been diluting it with more milk and sugar than usual, and then
following up with many glasses of water

Drugs - I will talk to my doc asap

Lube - mmm lube.  I can try that.

I guess when you're moving and are between jobs and houses and
apartments and havent eaten a home cooked meal in probably 2 months,
your body doesn't really have a chance at this, and you succumb.

I will get the drugs.

Snipped some:
I read on one of the larger support/information sites that things like
caffiene may have some benefit in keeping outbreaks down. I wish I
could remember where I saw that. There was a heck of a lot of other
nifty tips that didn't involve spending mass amounts of cash on
"herbal cures". If I find it again I'll slap it up here.
