The newest issue of Marie Claire, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law on
the cover, interviewed 20,000 men and asked them a series of
questions.  One of the questions was, "What sort of girl would you
never consider dating?" and 83% said "a woman who has an STD."  I
started crying.  83% of 20,000 men would never date me.  Great odds.

Since 90% of the people that have genital herpes don't even know that they
have it - I find those percentages listed in the magazine not to be too
realistic.  Besides - who wants to date somebody that would judge you before
they got to know you?

That's the 83% of men that think all women should look like models. Those
men may also be very shallow and and immature. Ya think?? Believe me, that's
the 83% we are all better off not knowing! And the women like them too!
Guys, you are better off without those kinds of women. Those kinds of people
in general wouldn't stick around for better or worse. See what I mean??
Weeds! All of 'em!!

Wanda and Angela you have hit the nail on the head!  Yet another moment in
my life (and there are many) when I'm ashamed to be a male, because of what
some men have said and done.

Well I've never expected perfection mostly because I'm far from perfection
myself.  Don't worry Queen Burger, I'm sure that you are a great catch and
far to good for those men in that poll anyway.

Hi Art,
Believe me, it's not a market that men have cornered. I have heard of
women doing the same thing to men. It's an ignorance thing. Or maybe fear of
what people don't understand. Or just a lot of things I guess. We all are
just glad there are people that have good sense still around!

Who cares?  Those 83% of men wouldn't date me anyhow because I'm way smarter
than they are.

LoL! ... way smarter, for sure.
But that's not really saying much when you consider that 4500 of that
83% are to dumb to even know they alREADY have herp. And none of the
other 12,160 (of 83%)  sound all that bright either.  I think Wanda
had it right. If that poll shows anything at all, it shows that out of
20,000 men, only 3,340 are worth a second look. The rest are best
weeded out first go 'round.

It would be interesting to know what format the questions took - how they
were worded could affect people's responses, especially  if it were multiple
choice. Also remember that STD is quite a general term, and perhaps it were
broken down a little more, you might find your odds are better.  Okay, well
that might not make you feel a whole lot better, but I'm trying!

Now, how to figure out which are the 17% without having to ask...

Guys all you need to do is find a partner who is honest and decent enough to
admit that they have had cold sores or ulcers before, and presto bobs your
uncle, there are loads of treatments elevated oxygen levels, amoils.com
neverandoutbreak.com, if your partner has the antibodies (already has had
HSV-1) then great even thats ok the chances of you infecting her below are
extremely remote the AHA says you cant infect when there are no sores
present, its a latent virus, its managable nad its suppressable, fact fact
fact, use a condom if your really paranoid, ive had cold sores since I was a
kid and never ha intercourse, went down on a girl with the sores and
infected her with HSV-2 what a stuff up, I did allot of research and found
several treatments, I have had one blister on my penis which dissapeared
very quickly, the LATEST is this product Dr Auers Immuno Boost, go to the
chemist now and order it it activates a gene on you t-Cell which promotes
the release of the cytokines, Interleukin and Gamma Interferon which
absolutely Nuke HSV-2, its a latent virus chill...........

You can infect someone if you don't have any sores present.

Well, lucky for you you only need to date 1

If you needed to date 250 million men (current US male population) you might
have a problem.. According to that poll you only have 65.7 million men to
chose from... whatever shall you do?

Let me tell you... as a man... once we are hooked on a girl, that's it. You
could tell us you're a praying mantis and you're gonna bite off our head
after we have sex and all we'd hear is "we're gonna have sex" and we'd break
out the wine, soft music and start taking our pants off.

That poll is similar to saying:
"I want to set you up on a blind date with a girl that has an STD."
Of corse they said "NO!"
Now, if the question read:
"If you were dating a girl you really cared about and she told you she had
an STD would you break up with her?"
the answers would have been quite different.

I'm tempted to offer the answer, "I would never consider dating the
sort of girl who reads 'Marie Claire'", but I probably couldn't make
that a hard and fast rule.  ;-)

The fact is, there are big differences between answering questions
for a magazine poll and real life dating.  Men have been known to
toss all kinds of principles, oaths, and adamant pronouncements out
the window without a second thought when something curvaceous enters
the building.

As others in the thread have so correctly and humorously offered,
you're much better off with the 83% of men who allegedly gave the
answer they did.

And you'll be happier, I know, if you give up the 'Marie Claire' and
read 'The Atlantic Monthly', or 'Forbes', or 'Cuisine', or 'Wine
Spectator'.   ;-)

Take care,

Mike

Yikes.  That should read "withOUT the 83%".  ;-)
