Assuming you're talking about a lesion and not just an infection, it
might or it might not. Herp has a wide and inconsistent range of
symptoms. Everybody's different. Not only that, but an individual's
symptoms can change over time. And not only *that*, but most people
don't have any symptoms at all .... not even an itch.

A lump? Doesn't sound typical of herp. Symptoms of an early infection
might show some swelling and redness, along with some tiny blisters
that break, scab over, and heal within a week or two. But a "lump"
wouldn't be the way I would describe it. Sounds like you're describing
something else. Time to check in with a doc.
