There was a webcast directed toward health care pros the other night
that some technically oriented peeps here might find interesting. The
speakers were two of the top hsv researchers in the US. The whole
thing lasted about an hour.
You can see the archived version on Medscape if you are a member (if

From the statistical point of view regarding the spread of herpes
virus and a few other issues was a good webcast.

I've found interesting to read tbere, what most people believe
are the causes of the sores and such, related to the herpes OB (of
course,
anything but the real cause which was herpes).

Also, they've mentioned that if someone gets genital herpes type 2,
it is highly unlikely they will get genital herpes type 1, but not
vice-versa.

Absolutely nothing technical to be learned about in that webcast;
mostly statistics based on peoples' reports.

I wish there were some explanations out there about how the
prescription drugs
work, how they are being fabricated and such.

Just to point out a coincidence I've found,
between the constituents of "Valeriana officinales"
there are a group of iridoid compounds called valepotriates, which
includes: valtrate, acevaltrate, didrovaltrates etc. My question is,
neither one of these above mentioned compounds have nothing in common
with the valtrex (VALACICLOVIR)? I suppose it is just a simple
coincidence.

Granted, not much technical. It was designed to bring health care
workers up to date on the latest stats regarding the spread of herp
and to reinforce the importance of routine testing. But all the
statistics they used were based on more than just "people's reports".
They were the results of quite a few controlled scientific double
blind studies conducted by some of the top researchers around. Their
results are very difficult to dispute. You can understand a lot more
though by reading the abstracts and seeing the actual data. There's a
lot more to be learned from their work than just their bottom line
figures.

Actually, Tim has posted some pretty good information right here about
that in the past. Check back through his posts in the last year of two
and you'll find quite a bit of insight in that area. He also posted
one not long ago about the active ingredient in Abreva that explained
some things I hadn't seen anywhere else.

If Perl had any real interest (or ability) in learning about the
things he claims he wants to know, there is a WEALTH of relevant
information on The Net.  Just a few clicks away.

But I don't think Perl is really interested in the questions he
himself asks.  The longer he spends here playing the doofus the more
one has to conclude that he's just a troll, or a moron with psyche
problems.

Also, as I've pointed out, or tried to point out over the years,
this is a support group.  If Perl were really interested in the
bio-mechanics of the HSV virus, he'd be asking his questions in a
science or medical group, where one would expect people to be more
knowledgeable (and willing to discuss) such things.

Whatever.  I'm just killing time here this afternoon, waiting for a
truck to show up.

Did you hear about the lawn tractor salesman whose wife left him?

Yep, it was very sad.  She sent him a John Deere letter.

Mike

ps.  You'll just have to mow it again in a month.  ;-)

Mike,
At least I haven't seen Perl blantently insulting anyone in here. And,
to be frank, I'd rather hold a conversation with a "Duffus" than an a.shole.
Treat people with respect, and you'll be a happier person. Seriously, what
you said wasn't nice at all.

How long have you been reading the group?  Perl has dumped
semi-literate insults on several of the regulars over the years.  I
mean, what do you think yesterday's "earwax" post was about?

Perl is both.  He's an idiot, too.  He's been caught lying about the
adverse affects of Acyclovir, etc.  He's been admonished for
spreading misleading, and sometimes, dangerous information.  He's
responsible for sewing confusion among people who come to this group
trying to clear up the confusion surrounding an issue which has them
deeply distressed.  To be frank with you, I'd rather eat dirt than
cut an a.shole like Perl any slack.

>Treat people with respect, and you'll be a happier person. Seriously, what
>you said wasn't nice at all.

Giving respect to people who don't deserve it is the perpetuation of
a lie, and I won't be party to it, especially for the sake of being
"nice".  Maybe Perl doesn't cuss very often or call people "stupid",
but what he does here isn't "nice", either, though I can't make
allowances for the fact that some people can't get past the surface
words.  The crap Perl posts may look like the harmless babblings of
a child, but there can be real world consequences for people who
blindly swallow every crank concoction that he pushes here.  Maybe
you'd like to take it upon yourself to vet his posts, looking for
inaccuracies, falsehoods, and potentially harmful recommendations?
And see how long you can be "nice" about it?

Mike
