Ok ... We heard from Terri who is currently on vacation in Alaska.
Here is what she had to say about Acyclovir Resistance and how to test for
it. I will place this in our handy dandy file of information for us to
refer back to in the files section over on Picking Up the Pieces. There is
discussion of this over on WebMD as well as Picking Up the Pieces for
anybody that is interested in learning more or making a contribution to the
discussion. ~Angela

You can't test for resistance by sending blood. You have to send a sample of
virus itself. And now the University of Washington is doing resistance
testing. What is required is a positive culture that can be sent to UW for
sensitivity testing. If someone wants more details about how to do that, I
will happy to provide details when I get back from Alaska.

FYI: I will be waiting for the details from Terri when she gets back from
her vacation. When I get that information I will post it here for those
folks that do not wish to venture off to the other message boards. :)

Hopefully we'll have the details soon. Surely there can't be all THAT
much to do in Alaska LoL! ;-)

It helps to belong to a couple of really good message boards ... not to
mention being able to find out things quicker from ASHA because of the HELP
group we run here in Omaha. Every little bit helps when you are interested
in making a difference. As the sign says here on Omaha: Happiness is
Helping Others. :)
