Has anyone had flu-like symptoms in recurrent break-outs?
I have shooting pains in my legs, tiredness, slight fever
and headache. I have no pain from the actual lesions though.
I've lived with herpes for ten years. The initial breakout
was the only one I had to suffer through.(Pain pain and more pain):-P
On all of the internet sites that I've looked at for information
on the infection, they don't have much on the long-term symptoms though.

Flu-like symptoms and all the things you describe are not unusual. There are
a number of symptoms that one would not associate with herpes because they
are not accompanied by lesions. E.G., if I fall asleep in my chair after
dinner I know an outbreak is probably coming. I get upset stomach. I used to
get boils in the same place in my groin and on my neck, but don't any more.
It took me years to figure out a lot of things I was experiencing on a
recurring basis were related. I recall even reading that herpes sufferers
have a higher incidence of developing MS than the norm, makes sense I
suppose as they apparently have similar pathologies.

Long term is different for everyone. But flu-like symptoms stuck with me
for the first two years or so.
