Wondering about possibility of herpes

Hi.  I've had a monogomous relationship for the past 3 months.  We
always use condoms when we have sex.  Also, I just recently began
shaving my pubic area (last Saturday was the third time I've done it).

On Saturday, and Sunday, me and my girlfriend had pretty rough sex.
Rough in the fact that (she shaves too) our pubic areas were subject
to a lot of rubbing.  On Tuesday, I got a series of pimples in my
pubic area (none on the penis).  I had first thought that they were
just ingrown hairs (perhaps cause I just started shaving in that
area), or pimples from not washing after sex.  They didn't hurt or
really itch at all, except when they were touched.  They behaved
exactly like pimples.  Then I began looking it up on the internet and
discovered that it could be herpes.

Regardless, I'm going to the doctor's office to get it checked out.
Any insights that could put my mind at ease or freak me out even more?
(Just kidding, but maybe get me ready for the bad news?)

Thanks

I'll bet money they're exactly what you thought they were in the first
place. Ingrown hairs or some sort of rash from shaving.

Where'd you look? I wouldn't put much faith in many of the sites on
the net. And most of the pictures I've seen are NOT of typical herpes
outbreaks. There are a few really good sites but many seem to have a
wealth of MISinformation.

Not a bad idea, assuming you have a herpes aware doc. Those guys
aren't found in abundance though either. But give it a go and see what
he says. If he is going to do a culture though, you probably should
have already had that done. Otherwise there's a good chance of a false
negative result. Best chance for an accurate result is immediately
upon appearance of symptoms. Might not be a bad idea to get a blood
test even if the rash is not herpes related. Most people who are
infected don't know it because they don't have recognizable symptoms.
Sooo ... wouldn't hurt to check that way too.

Will you please do us all a favor and post again after you get your
results. Even if it's not herp (and like I say, I seriously doubt that
it is), it's how we all learn around here.
Thanks in advance,
M2
