A lot of people like to believe that they got their herpes from a toilet
seat or something because it makes them feel less "dirty" than having to
admit that they were having sex.  Basically, she's lying to herself.  I'm
assuming that she has genital herpes?  You can get that through oral sex or
even from the partner's hands if conditions were right.

Perhaps she's talking about oral herpes?

For me, depression was a big part to deal with when I got
herpes!  I even almost committed suicide, if it weren't for
a friend who helped me get through it, I might not be here
now.  That's how horrible it was for me, and I still have
touch times dealing with it.  The medicines don't help me
much at all so I just have to deal with it when it happens.
I've tried Lysine and it doesn't seem to help either.
I can deal with it more when it comes out below, but when
I got herpes, I didn't know and when I would scratch it when
it hurt, I touched my face in a couple of places.... on my
left cheek and my forhead and I get out breaks from time to
time in those places as well as below but when it comes out
on the face, you can't hide that!  Very embarrassing to deal
with that when you have work every day where people can see
and ask what happened!  I hate it!

It is possible for depression to follow after being diagnosed with herpes
simplex.
Does she have oral herpes or genital herpes?
