I've been on Valtrex suppressive therapy now for 4 years and have had
nothing but positve results.

Recently I've notice the brittle hair & hair loss that I have seen
mentioned here, and was not even away that it was a potential side
effect of the drug.

Any info on how long after discontinuing Valtrex it should be before I
notice a change in hair quality and regrowth?

Thanks in advance.

The only mention of hair probs that I remember here was a couple of
years ago by one of the regulars back then. If I recall correctly, she
managed to reverse the prob without getting off suppression ... which
tells me, suppression wasn't the problem in the first place.

Unfortunately, guys start thinning with age, sometimes early age, no
matter what. So there's a good chance it might not be a Valtrex side
effect. If fact, if it were the Valtrex, I would think you'd have seen
the problem several years before now.

If it's really important to you, you can always quit suppression for
awhile and see what happens. Shouldn't take long. Your sysytem clears
the stuff fairly quickly.  <shrug> Just my 2 cents. Wish I knew more
about it but I haven't seen anything else here.
