My doctors are clueless saying herpes does not do all this. So I hope
the knowledgeable members of this group can comment if individuals
with herpes show these symptoms ?
After having unprotected sex with a lady 7 months back I have
progressively shown the following symptoms. It started with a
persistent pinkish rash (foreskin area) but no outbreak and some very
faint dark spots on the crown. I also get itchy around my
jaw/mouth/cheek areas, particularly at night.
Two months after the incident I had a flu like symptoms with a mild
outbreak, very fatigued feeling with pain in muscles and joints,
especially buttocks/ thighs/arms. This was followed by lower back pain
with mild burning sensation, neck stiffness, headaches, dizziness,
unbalanced, nauseous and stuffy feeling. Now I have started having
arthritis like pain in hands and feet. Mouth ulcers, sore throats and
red rashes on legs and chest almost every month.
I have tested positive for both Herpes I , II and HSV6 but NEGATIVE
for all other common STDs, AIDS, Lyme, EBV and arthritis. I am a
healthy male in my 30s. I have had two mild outbreaks over the last 7
months. I don't mind the outbreak but these other symptoms are
persistent and making life like hell. I have tried many anti-fungals
and antibiotics for rash but no success.
So is Herpes causing my troubles or is it some other virus ? Any
suggestions for medication, therapy for relief from the stiff neck,
headaches and lower back ache would be most appreciated ? Will this
last a life time ?
Thanks a lot,
David

Yes. Your symptoms CAN be herpes symptoms. But they can also be symptoms
of something else. And yes, it does get better.
Take regular over the counter pain meds for flu-like symptoms and aches and
pains. Try taking the herpes antiviral meds for a month or so and see if
they help with your sympotms. For rashes, you also want to make sure you
aren't having an allergic reaction. Switch your laundry detergent to a
"free" brand without dyes or perfumes. Do NOT use fabric softener. Bounce
makes a "free" dryer sheet that is fairly good. Make sure you wash your
sheets and towels in this detergent as well - could explain the nighttime
itching.
Mouth ulcers are unrelated to herpes and usually occur with some sort of
mouth trauma. This brings up allergies again. You could be allergic to
something you are eating which can also produce many of the symptoms you
have listed below.
I would force my doctor to come up with some sort of answer....
Good luck.
