Hi all,
It's been awhile since my last post. After I tried Acyclovir for my
last outbreak in November, things were incredibly quiet on the Cold
Sore front.
If you have a mild case of HSV 1(oral)USE ACYCLOVIR or one of the
other prescription meds available. The benefits are too many to count.
But a few are, widely known formulations, standardizations of dosage,
and the availability of toxicity information. Messing around with the
"cures" isn't worth your while, or your money. Believe me, I HAVE
TRIED THEM ALL.
On to the business. I had another outbreak lasst week. Upper lip
inside left corner. I grabbed the bottle of Choraphor and was about to
openher up but I remembered - - The lesion must be allowed to fully
"open up" prior to application.-- I'm sure you can understand that I
didn't want it to show up at all, so I opted out off trying it this
time. KEep the psychological demands of a med in mind, as well as its
pharmacological and physiological aspects. Instead, I reached for the
Viroxyn. I followed the application instructions and all seemed to go
well. IT hurts like hell to apply Viroxyn. You have to rub the
medicine into the lesion. "OUCH" but after it's all in, the pain is
numby, dull and throbbing. It's uncomfortable, but not painful.
I was a bit anxious to rid myself of this latest outbreak so I popped
some Acyclovir. Cold Sore gone in 2 days flat. Best so far!

Okay, Back again!
This time an angry/painful outbreak on my top lip. But I caught it
early and took 4 800MG of the Acyclovir. Then I waited, The lesion
kept coming! "Whoa," I thought, "this is going to be a fight." Sure
enough, my lower lip started to blister this am and my top lip began
to "Crack." Perfect opportunity to try the Choraphor," I thought.
I opened the little blue bottle, wet a cotton swab, squeezed a drop of
Choraphor and began working it into my upper lip.
First findings, It didn't hurt nearly as much as the Viroxyn on
unbroken skin. And this was on an "open" lesion. "Maybe I didn't use
enough" I thought. The directions are not very precise. So I tried a
little more. Still not as uncomfortable as the Viroxyn (may not be a
good thing). Took 2 Acyclovir and went to work.
Now at work, both lesions are starting to throb, it's been nearly 8
hours since any treatment. I can't say that my practical experience
with Choraphor is any different than with Acyclovir alone. Hmmm. I'll
be trying again soon. NExt update, later tonight.
Hope this helps somebody in their search.
Peace!

Well, as for me, IMHO, the verdict is in!
Choraphor actually WORSENS the symptoms and increases healing time of
an HSV1 labial OB!
Once again for all you armchair scientists out there:
Choraphor actually WORSENS the symptoms and increases healing time of
an HSV1 labial OB!
Hell Yeah I'm surprised. I thought At least I'd be able to see either
nothing happen, or something positive happen. But alas, Choraphor is
BEST when avoided.
At $100.00 S&H incl. Choraphor is by far the biggest waste of money of
all the "cures" second only to the Dermasptic which "DOES work for
some" But not all. Something about ionized silver sensitivity I hear.
As I stated Above, I applied it per instructions included with the
solution, to only ONE Lesion. This lesion WAS healing rapidly with
Acyclovir alone. It is clearly apparent to me now that Healing has
slowed considerably than before Choraphor was applied.
I noticed with Viroxyn, that in conjunction with Acyclovir, A cold
sore would last no more than two days, and NEVER broke the skin. This
is the fourth day with Acyclovir and Choraphor. and there's still
visible redness and puffiness.
My advice, Try Acyclovir on a per OB basis, Tingle? Pop four of 'em.
Then wait. If the tingly area reddens or a lesion begins to appear,
work a vial of Viroxyn into that spot. It hurts like hell, but it'll
be gone faster than you can say "public embarrassment."
So, in my non-scientific experiments:
DermaSeptic: So-so. Pretty good, but not reliable and a P.I.T.A. to
use.
Viroxyn: Worth a try! Seems to play nice with others.
Choraphor: Planning on Buying some? Why not just throw your Ben
Franklin out the window?
Red Algea: C'mon! this is just silly.
Acyclovir: I guess there's a reason Doctors prescribe it. It Works!
Works even better with Viroxyn.

Hi JB,
Sorry to hear about the failure. :(
Have you tried using just plain old tea tree oil? I've been told it works
great on oral herpes.
