Supposing that I have genital HSV2, is it possible to infect
*myself* with ORAL herpes by touching my lesions and then later
touching my face accidentally, without having washed up properly?
Thanks,
J

Joe,
If you have both herpes type-1 and type-2 then you keep those types . . . so
what you have described is probably not likely. Here is a good link for you
to check out: http://www.yoshi2me.com/page6.html.

Hi Joe,
This is a very common concern. :) Yes, it is possible. Especially during
the first year of infection before the body has become a herpes fighting
machine. However, things to remember....
IF you have type 2, then it doesn't like the oral region very much so the
chances are slim that this could happen. However, something to be very
careful about is touching your eyes. Ocular herpes is a real pain and can
cause some more serious problems. But don't get neurotic about it!! That
doesn't do anyone any good. Just practice good hygiene and remember that
hot water and soap kill the virus on contact.
Take care,
ar

always wash your hands before touching your eyes because that's a very
common was to pick up the common cold. Works for me every time.
