Can anyone tell me what are the three different types of herpes that you can
get?

The first time I had herpes was 7 years ago and didn't get it anymore after
that, until now.  what can make it come back like this after that amount of
time?

thanks for your help

There are more than three forms with 8 human herpesviruses to pick from.
If you narrow it down to the skin lesion that look like cold sores/fever
blisters then you have facial/oral herpes, genital herpes, herpes zoster,
herpes whitlow, herpes keratitis and herpes gladiatorum/rugbiosum which
generally include the word herpes. There are others but those are the
primary diseases or the probable major non normal (for want of a better
expression) presentations and include 3 of the viruses from the family as
causative agents in the various effects.

Triggers vary from person to person, common ones include certain meds  for
ea long time (steroids), stress is a biggy, changes in UV light exposure
for some, at least one of the forms above is basically an abrasion issue.
Some people react to foods and for many you just have to put it down to
'it reactivated and came back there and then' and leave it at that. The
virus is alwasy there and therefore always a risk for returning.

Wendy,

Actually . . . there are eight human herpes viruses. You can read about each
one here:  http://www.westoverheights.com/freebooktext.html#viruses.

Once you get herpes ~ You keep herpes. :)

Good point for me too.

But keeping stress down, doing yoga, etc. also help a lot to keep the
stress down and the reduction in outbreaks as well as length of heal
time has shortened....for ME.

Hi Wendy,

All sorts of things can make an outbreak happen.  Some of the most common
triggers are stress or food or some other health problem.  Anything new in
your life?
