I made an appointment with my physician, but can't get in until next week. I
just went through a bit of something... headache, dizzyness, thought it
might be a touch of the flu everyone has.

Well, I got a red rash on my penis, with a small black dot in the middle. No
pimple like, just smooth skin, but red and irritated. But there is no pain
whatsoever.

Can a herpes "sore" occure that isn't sore? Or do they hurt?

Does anyone who has been diagonosed with herpes have outbreaks where you
just get a red rash but no soreness?

Most people with one of the relevant viruses don;t notice anything. THose
that get outbreaks can have a spectrum ranging from the classic lesions to
lighter effects that are more rash like.

However that doesnt mean what you describe has to be herpetic
symptoms...you need tohave some doc somewhere run the battery of tests
needed to decide what it is. You could just have got a rash and a cold at
the same time....

Maybe you should see if there's a clinic in your area that can see you
quicker.

They can vary.  A Primary or first outbreak is more likely to hurt
than reoccurrences, but even that might not hurt.  My outbreaks don't
hurt.

Sure, outbreaks are widely variable.  Large numbers of people with
herpes never have any recognizable symptoms.  Others, like you
possibly, will get a red spot or small red rash.  Others experience
outbreaks of varying severity.

Since you don't have blisters you probably want to look into one of
the herpes type specific blood tests, which can determine if you have
herpes even without those overt symptoms.  Has it been like 12 to 16
weeks since you think you might hvea been exposed to the virus?

Take care,

Mike

This is just happening now, for the first time. I've never had this symptom
before. So if it has been about 4 days of rash, which by the way is already
clearing up with a small dot that might be a scab although you can't pick it
off, when might I have been infected?

Don't know about that black dot.  That's a new one.

Herpes can lay dormant for quite awhile so knowing when you got it is
often difficult, if not impossible.  More people have it and don't
know it, than have it and know it.

BUT, if you're one of the ones that are going to know it, usually,
you'll see signs within 2 or 3 days to three weeks or so.  So, if you
had unprotected sex withing the last three weeks, that would be
information that a doctor would like to know, which would help form a
diagnosis.  If you haven't had sex recently then the chances for
herpes are less likely, but by no means ruled out.

Feel free to ask more.

Take care,

Mike

My first outbreak did hurt, and it was a reddish rash spot on the back of the
shaft with a black spot.  Painful urination and sore testicles.  Unpleasant and
I was all alone in a ageing soviet hostel in rural Slovakia:  bad times.

my second was pretty mild, it was from UV exposure but I was in Greece and
eating healthily and exercising.  With one possible OB since, I've had nothing
but an occasional warning tingle, which I respond to with R&R, saunas followed
with tea tree oil to the ganglia, and upping my dose of vitamin C and lysine
and generally taking better care of myself.

Anyway, I hope that you don't have herpes since every other symptomatic disease
can be cured, but if you have it, the situation is really not so dire after the
first couple months, I go for weeks forgetting I even have it.
