Hi !
9 months ago I went to a prostitute and had protected sex with her. A few
weeks after that there appeared a little spot on my penis that was varying
in redness (so sometimes it was hardly visible and at another time is was
really red) around 1 or 2 millimeter in size.
Because I was afraid I had caught a std I went to my doctor. He gave me
some anti-fungal ointment and ordered me to take antibiotics (in case it was
something like chlamydia). Didn't help.
So I went to an urologist. After a quick examination he said it was herpes.
However I wanted a second opinion, so I went to another urologist who also
did some blood tests. Results: negative. So no herpes, no chlamydia, no
syphilis or whatever std. He subscribed me something that would cure the
redness, but again it did not work.
Because the little spot was still there (together with some redness around
the urethra), I decided to go to a dermatologist. After an examination she
thought it was eczema, so again I had to use an ointment for a week and then
the redness would disappear. No luck ! So I revisited the dermatologist
and this time she did a biopsy (which probably will leave a scar because it
was not done very well :-(). Results: a-specific balanitis, meaning an
inflammation of the glans without a specific cause. She gave me another
ointment, but the spot and redness didn't disappear.
Since last week I occansionaly have a strange feeling in or around my penis
(it is really difficult to locate where it comes from). It's best described
as the feeling you have when you have an erection for a long time and the
erection starts to get painful (probably difficult for the girls out there
to imagine how this feels :-)). I also call it a soaring feeling (like
someone is squeezing my penis to hard, but then from the inside), but as I
said it is really difficult to describe. Does it have something to do with
the redness/spot ? I don't know...
Today I'm going for the last time to the dermatologist, probably to get
another subscription for another ointment. I'm really getting sick of it !
It seems that no one can help me with my problem. The uncertainty about it
is driving me nuts ! Do I have a std or not ? And what if the symptoms I
described would disappear ? I may still have a std without knowing it...
Another thing that makes all of this complicated and which I left out until
now is that I have a girlfriend and I don't want to infect her with
something.
Does anybody has any advice on this ? Someone with the same problem ?
Something I can do to make sure whether I have a std or not ?
Thanks !

Hi Luc,
When you had your blood test, how long had passed since you saw the
prostitute? You need to be infected with herpes for at least 12 to 16 weeks
before a blood test will give you an accurate diagnosis.
Other than that, I can't help you. Hopefully someone else here will have
some suggestions.
Take care,
ar

I have had herpes for a while.
The first five or six test that took for herpes came out negative. That's
why I did know that I had it for the first ten years.
I have no less that about six different and very strange feeling before I
hav an outbreak. What you described is very close to the feeling that I have
around my penis before I break out a lesion. I also get pain in my buttucks,
inner thigh, testicle, groin and outer thigh.
Advice,
They feeling that your have in your penis may not have anything to do
with the lesion. If you are having a herpes outbreak, it is my experience
that you will either have no outbreak or develop a lesion that look like a
blister contain a clear water liquid. Once the blister pops, it leave a
sore. That is the classical presentation of Herpes II
