Hi all, this messege may seem crass but I have a theory about the
herpes virus after reading all these usenet messeges and researching
articals and that is this....there is no escape from the wrath of the
herpes virus!!! I mean really, what can we do about it? To be
absolutly 100% sure you will never, ever recieve the herpes virus
would be to stay at home and j.rk off or masterbate the rest of your
natural life. Or stay manogomous with one partner for the rest of your
life, which in this day and age is non-existant. Even the use of
condoms may not prevent it...and, really...who wears a condom each and
every time they have sex? The virus is so eluding, so misunderstood by
researchers, that theres really no way we could ever have sexual
contact of any kind- without possibly being subjected to the virus.
Can someone confirm my theory or am I just wrong here?

Well I suppose there is an element of truth in that James, but by
maintaining good health, using suppression therapy and taking appropriate
precautions, the risk of herpes transmission can be dramatically reduced.
There is not really not much point in such pessimistic talk. Every time you
walk out your front door you could be risking your life with all the nasties
going on in the world. But do you stay locked in your house forever? James,
don't be one of those people who are so afraid of dying that they never
learn to live.
Just my 2 cents anyway.

Well, maybe, but with a little knowledge and care the risk can be
minimized.  As it is, even just muddling along, with people not
particularly informed or taking even cursory care, only about 25% of
the population has HSV2, and a lot of them don't even realize it.  If
awareness were greater and people more conscientious about their own
status or that of their partners, the numbers would undoubtedly be
lower.  Of course, you can debate whether or not the behavior of
masses of people can ever be changed by more than a smidgeon at a
time, but I believe that people will act responsibly given the
information upon which to base decisions.  Everyone needs to become
more aware of the risks inherent in a care free sexual lifestyle.

Nothing can be guaranteed, but the odds are in favor of those who are
informed.

Take care,

Mike

James,

You're wrong. I'm sorry that you feel you have to live a hermits life
because of herpes.
It's too bad that you can't see past this virus. There is so much more out
there anyway and you won't see it with the blinders that you are wearing. My
suggestion to you is to read and be informed but try not to grossly obsess
over all this.
