Hi group.
I am new here. I have had hsv2 since 1985 and luckily didn't have many
outbreaks and never infected anyone else, until recently. The last few
months I have been averaging 2 outbreaks a month. Just when I think it
is finally gone another starts. It is very nerve wrecking. I am
concerned to be having so many outbreaks. Has anyone else experienced
this or know anything about it?
TIA,
Tracey

Hi Tracey!!

Welcome to the newsgroup!!

Interestingly enough ... you couldn't be 100% sure that you haven't infected
anybody else ... could you?
I mean ... having a flare up isn't the only way that you can pass herpes on
to another person.
Here is a good link for you to read: http://www.ashastd.org/news/111201.html
You can still pass herpes even if there are no signs or symptoms.

If you are having trouble with flare ups ... you might want to consider
suppression.
What type of meds do you take when you have a flare up?

> Angela,

Thanks for the links. No, I'm not 100% sure but my ex husband and a
couple of boyfriends have never contracted it.

I am currently taking Famvir, 1000 mgs a day for the past 3 days. I tried
Valtrex before but it gave me a terrible headache so I hardly ever took it.
Famvir still gives me a headache but not nearly as bad. I pretty much have
only been using Zovirax cream up until now which has been all I needed. It's
not working anymore.

I'm a little concerned that it is something more serious that is causing my
immune system to weaken. Do you know anything about that? This is driving me
nuts. I'm scared to death of giving it to my boyfriend. We've been together
5 years and he hasn't gotten it yet but it was never this bad either. I tell
him I have it and he just says, no you don't. I'm trying to be very careful
but just when I think I'm safe wham, another one.

Thanks,
Tracey
