I had this virus for about 5 years now, and it's been just one big outbreak
that lasted all this time.

Then starts again somewhere else.  I have 3 infected areas and since the
last 5 years it's been 1 or 2 or 3 areas outbreak, 7 days a week.
I can count on my fingers the number of days I've been feeling 'normal' for
the past 5 years.

Went up to 4 valtrex a day (2000 mg) and it did not do sh.t.

I don't know how long I can still accept to live like this but this is
another story...

I would like to know if any of you have tried or have comments on the 2
medication they advertise on the herpes.com site...

Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thx.

Lysine seems to work better for type 1 herpes.

Some have had good results with red marine algae - but it doesn't work for
everyone.

I would suggest you take a look at the "whole" picture.  Why are your
outbreaks so frequent and severe?

Have you identified your triggers?  What foods are you eating?  How is your
overall health?  Do you drink coffee?  What is your stress level?  Do you
exercise?  Do you take any supplements?

Etc.

Regarding food and supplements. Could anyone guide me on what are
avoidable foods and supplements that are known to "stimulate" herpes?
Specifically, do antioxidant supplements influence negatively?? (vitamins
a, b*, c, e, selenium)

The only thing you need to watch out for are foods high in L-arginine.  Or,
you can take in L-Lysine to counteract the larger doses of arginine.

Foods that are triggers for some people include: nuts, chocolate and
caffeine.

Here's ye olde food nutrition lysine/arginine table:

And I would guess that the antioxidants, which help keep cells
healthy, can only be good for a body with HSV.

Take care,

Mike

Have you tried switching to Acyclovir, or perhaps Famvir?  And like
Arlyn says, look at what you eat and drink.

Well, when the usual mainstream medicines don't work, which is fairly
rare, I'd say that it couldn't hurt to try some of the better known
folk medicines.  L-lysine and Red Marine Algae are two of the more
recommended such substances.

Let us know how it goes and take care,

I had about one or two outbreak a month. This meant the I was broken out for
50% of my life.

Fortunate, I have a loving and understanding wife. Who accepted me and
didn't make me feel bad about it.

I tried valtrex, but it made me sick and dizzy.

I have not had an outbreak in nine months. I cannot say for sure how it went
into remission and count every day without it as a blessing.

I did notice that the outbreak stop when I sought treatment for all of the
other things that were bothering me.

I had indigestion for year and would go to the doctor for it. I did and the
treated my peptic ulcer disease. I got every cavity filled and I had surgery
to correct GI problenm that I had. It seems like the answer for me at least
is keeping myself healthy.

Will this appy to you? I don't know.
