Hi group. I've just had my first out break of herpes after being tested
positive 4 years ago and it came as quite a shock. Unfortunatly when I was
tested they couldn't tell which type it was but now I know that it is oral
herpes.
When the blistering started I was already sick with the flu and it got quite
bad blistering wise before I went to the doctor which was 2 days after the
blistering started. The blistering had stopped by then but it was still
weeping and starting to crust up and he said all I should use is Zovirax for
5 days. Its now 5 days since the blisters appeared and all the weeping and
crusting is gone. I'm still using the Zovirax and Carmax lip balm to
moisturise my skin which I found got quite dry from the Zovirax.
There is no longer any loose dry skin (I'm rinsing my lips around 10 times a
day) around the area where the sore was, its just a little red. Am I still
contagious? How long should I wait before I can kiss anyone?
Is Zovirax the way to go when it comes to dealing with cold sores? Should I
be taking multi vitamins or any herbal supplements to keep the flare ups
down?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sloop ~ Here are a couple of web sites that you might want to hang on to
~
1. http://members.cox.net/yoshi2me/Site-Type/Site-Type.htm
2. http://www.westoverheights.com/freebooktext.html
It's still possible to spread herpes even if there are no signs or symptoms.
Oh ~ One more site that has a section for medications ~
