I'm confused. (as usual of course!) Do you have oral herpes? I'm assuming
that you do have oral herpes because that's what you have in the subject
line. You know, I'm going to say that just because you have tingles doesn't
necessarily mean that you are going through asymptomatic shedding if that is
what you mean. You could be getting a boil. You could just need to hop in
the shower. Not every itch and tingle is going to be herpes, ya know?

Ok, I get it now. You don't have oral herpes or genital herpes but you are
worried about others that might have it and not know that they have it? Is
that right? Do you actually know your status personally? Have you ever been
tested specifically for herpes? Why don't you discuss this with your
partners if you are so concerned about it, ya know?

See what I mean? There's another scenario that could be a possibility. I
know right now I'm sitting here sipping my coffee and just reading this post
as me feeling like jumping in the shower. But, that's not because of herpes.
It's more because I need to take a shower and get clean. ;)

No problem! Have you thought about talking to a professional counserlor?
Take care and TGIF,

I'm intrigued by that statement ... who is it that you picture could
have herpes? I have to say this but herpes doesn't discriminate,
anyone can have it. Black or white, big or small, male or female,
white collar or blue collar, your closest friend, your family, your
next door neighbour, someone famous that you look up to ... absolutely
anyone.
I am not sure where you are located but in Australia, 80% of adults
have HSV type I, which is the virus that causes cold sores.
All the best,
Harmony.

Great catch Harmony! I had not looked at that particular statement the way
in which you did. You really caught my attention and got me thinking about
that post again. Thank You!
Angela :)

Yes thats interesting to say that. When I was a teenager I only thought that
people who had herpes (genital mainly) were prostitutes, boy was I wrong! I
sometimes feel as if i were punished for thinking that way.
I'm a really quiet, shy person and no one would ever suspect I have it. So I
guess you cannot really go by looks.

Have you ever heard the old saying about how we're not supposed to judge a
book by it's cover? ;)

No that's right ... and nor can you go by frequency either. For want
of a better phrase, it's simply on or off. You are lucky or you
aren't! I know people that have caught the virus from their first
partner, so it isn't necessarily an indication of promiscuity.
Anyway ... it would fantastic if we could educate people about this
virus! Sometimes I think people are more understanding towards the
AIDS virus than they are of HSV.

Well you have a point there. I know a lot of people regard people with AIDS
as someone they wouldnt want to get too close to, but they do feel sorry for
them. AIDS is often known as a disease that gay people get.
On the other hand, if they encounter a person with herpes, the response is
often that they look down on the person. Almost as if a person with herpes
is unclean or a low life or something like that, its just weird. Its just
not accurate, but thats society for you. I try to educate people about
herpes if I run into that subject, but I dont go telling everyone I have it
either.

I completely understand and I am exactly the same. I try and educate
but I also hide my identity and certainly don't tell everyone I have
it.
Best of luck
