How do you deal with Sexuality? Do you have to eliminate it, just
because you've made a choice to not infect people or have to limit
your sex life to other persons with the same virus(es) you have? This
can be a considerably depressing playing field if you're infected with
HSV and any of the other permanently-present viral STDs...like HIV and
HCV.  What's more, there are no less than 5 types of hepatitis C (HCV)
so if you have that one, your partner could end up carrying a double
infection even if he or she already has it.  Celibacy is the only
choice for me, after I got HSV already having HCV.

I could not find a non saccharine support group for celibates who are
not abstaining for religious reasons but because of disease.  I am
interested in finding out how people cope with this choice when it's
not done out of fear of God but fear of becoming a sexual Typhoid
Mary.

I don't limit sex or limit who I am with. I have genital herpes and hpv
(genital). I've unknowingly had both of the about 12 years or so. I don't
feel I am having that much of a problem with the "talk" as I did back when I
was younger and I seem to be finding more and more people who are accepting
of them. I guess there are some people who have chosen not to have anymore
sex, and I am sure if you join some of the herpes groups you'll be able to
find others. A group I belong to is Picking Up the Pieces and you can also
find information on Antopia.com and another one I think its called Racoon.

Not sure where you are based but there are a few specialist dating
sites for people living with HSV, HPV etc in various countries.  Try
doing a search on google for something like 'herpes dating' and see
what you can find in your area.  Living with the virus can be
difficult but there are others like us, so you don't necessarily need
to be alone or celibate.
