Question about autoinoculation?

I tried posting this same question in picking up the pieces, but didnt get a
response, but I figured it was because of the heated discussions on
alternative medicines, anyway....

I've had genital herpes for probably about 12 years+

I am aware that herpes can come out anywhere in the boxer short area, and
from time to time the outbreaks have moved from inner thighs to above the
butt etc.

I understand that the longer you've had it the less likely it is that you
can autoinoculate yourself meaning that you spread it to someplace else on
your body. Anyway I have genital herpes type 1, but I have still had some
pretty frequent and severe outbreaks from time to time. It is lessening now,
but I noticed the other day that my left underside of the forearm was
tingling and pinching like I get in prodrome in other areas. I noticed this
for 3 days on and off and then again a week later or so for a short time. I
am wondering that if I did spread herpes to my inner arm will I just get
prodrome without sores because i already have it in my system or is it
likely to get sores also?

This would be the same as if someone had genital herpes and then later
infected their own lips some how.

I think I may also have herpes on the mouth also, because i have had minor
red areas on the lip borders from time to time that are preceeded by burning
and tingling and they are really minor and never get actual coldsores, just
the red and tingle. So from my own observations of my own body I noticed
that I get full genital outbreaks, but only prodrome in the possible areas
of autoinoculation such as the lips and maybe forearm. Is that the norm?

Would it be more likely that if a trasmission did occur to another place,
would the outbreaks be more likely to be limited to prodrome in those areas?

Thanks,
Al

so that I would not have to keep repeating myself. ;)

Hope that helps,

Hi Angela,

I read your page on that topic. Well I know this is not my primary what is
going on now because I have had many outbreaks from time to time. So maybe
what is occuring on my arm is not herpes? I don't know. I do know that
sometimes when all looks okay and feels okay, if I happen to rest that arm
on a chair arm rest it starts to burn for a second or two at times, so I am
not sure whats up with that!

Anyway,

Talk to you later,
Al

Al,

Why not go and see your doctor so they can have a look at what's going on
with your arm?
Don't you think that would be a great way to get this solved?

Keep us posted,

Angela

Al,

As you know, we can't diagnose you over the internet.

Yes, it is difficult to autoinoculate yourself after so many years.
However, if your immune system is malfunctioning, anything is possible.
But, under the arm is not the usual site for herpes.  I suggest talking to a
doctor.

Okay just to clarify, its not under the arm. Its the underside of my left
forearm. The problem is there are no sores or redness there, just what feels
like Prodrome, just the pinching and burning sensations. So "showing" my arm
to a doctor wouldnt really do any good, theres nothing to culture either. I
guess since it feels like herpes and I have herpes elsewhere I can probably
say thats a logical explanation.

No no no.. just because it "feels" like herpes doesn't necessarily make it
the "logical explanation." You need FACTS and not FEELINGS to help you
figure out what is going on.
