If anyone remembers, a few weeks back I said that I find that if I take
acyclovir at the very beginning of the symptoms of an outbreak then it
always does the job and stops it from coming, but, I still always feel as
though its just being held back and then when I stop the acyclovir the
breakout comes anyway quite soon afterwards. It's like it's just waiting
there to get me like very determined bailiff that will camp outside your
house till you open the door and then push past you and take your telly
away. I said that the next time though, I would carry on with the acyclovir
for a little longer - perhaps a week or two - to try and give it more of a
kicking, as it were. Anyway that extra time seems to have done the trick and
when I stopped the symptoms didn't come back. Lucky me ay ? So I guess in a
way I'm on an intermittent suppressive therapy which is the best way forward
for now. Just thought I'd update people in case it's helpful or interesting.
