Does anybody here have an idea how the "H stigma" problem in Germany
compares to the U.S.?  Is it more of a stigma there? Or less? And by
how much? Or is it about the same?
If anybody is familiar with Germany or Germans in general, I would
appreciate your insight please.
Thanks  ;-)

Nope.
It's coming here (so to speak).
So I may be able to answer my own question soon. Frankly though, I'd
much rather know ahead of time.

I have found that many Europeans seem to have less of a problem with it than
Americans.

Ahhhh, now I know EVERYSING!

heh heh.

You have both more and less to worry about than you could ever
imagine.

HSV is no problem at all.  Don't be afraid of that.

But German women (like Russian women) are STRONG, physically,
mentally, and socially, and will likely out-dominate the average
American male (you ain't merely average M2, so don't worry), UNLESS
they are already predisposed to like you, in which case they will just
squish you to death between their teutonic ... 'er, well...

Of course, I have only limited personal experience in these regards,
but I remember the relationship being somewhat business-like...

Best wishes, good luck.  Lay in a supply of strong beers, thick
sausages, and Schubert!

Take care,

Mike the 1/2 Hun

Not sure I like the sounds of that. Wasn't the Teutonic an unsinkable
passenger ship that hit an iceberg on it's maiden voyage and sank??

Thanks! Now there's some advice I can understand :-)

Take her to The Mall.  Nothing impresses Europeans like the vast
opulence of the American shopping experience.  Don't forget to take
your credit card.  Even moreso, absolutely nothing impresses Europeans
more than the vast opulence of the American line of credit.  ;-)

Or maybe it's Wagner that the kids are all cuckoo for these days... I

Can you make farting noises with your armpits?  They love that.

Let us know how it goes!

Yes, this is a rather strange request M2. Care to tell us why you want to
know these things?

Strange? Certainly not!
Just doing my research m'am  ;-)
Ya just never know when ya might be called upon to discuss and
enlighten a foreign visitor on our favorite topic ...
... and it always helps to be aware of the other culture's views and
opinions when doing so ;-)
Soooo Maree, tell me everything you know, in 25 words or less, about
German attitudes toward Herp. And don't dilly dally 'round cuz I'm
runnin' outa time!

I posted this last night but it never showed up on the servers
anywhere so here it is again from a different server. This time in
Germany LoL!
Sorry if this is a duplicate. The other one may show up later <shrug>
who knows.

Anyhow,

Jury's in.
I don't know yet about all Germans. But one German in particular took
the news without batting an eye. No big deal.  However, she's baffled
by the revelation that it's considered a big deal here in the states.
I had a tough time explaining that one.

Wooohooo???
If that means what I think it means ... nope. You on the wrong track.
Or at least you're a bit premature. Mike and I (and Maree I think)
were just funnin' before. My best guess is this will
continue/culmonate into a platonic friendship.
But if it means something else .... what?

WOOOOHOOOO!!  LoL!
Now if we could just enlighten the media, the medical community, and
the U.S. population to the level of the average German, I'd feel like
we've accomplished something LoL!

Woohoo for platonic relationships, something we all need more of.

Of course, I know you well enough (well enough to call you by your
first name:  M2) to know that you wouldn't entice foreigners to jump
the pond for romantic relations if you hadn't already discussed
certain things.  Indeed, since you hadn't previously discussed such
things, you were inviting to come visit for the sake of friendship,
and friends tell each other things.  You dog you.

Take care and have fun.  And forget the malls and running up your
credit cards.  The really best aspects of America with which to stun
our visiting European friends are the great American all outdoors, the
wide open spaces, from the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans
white with foam.  Go hiking.  Go sailing.  Go Enjoy.  She'll love it.

I only have one kayak, these days, and I'm not sure where you live
except that it's in the south, but I'll be heading south with my boat
in eleven days, if you can hang on that long.

Of course, if you really want to go kayaking and can't wait, I'm sure
there's a kayak rental place somewhere near you.  Check yer yeller
pages.

Have fun and take care,

Mike

Not batting an eye at HSV wasn't hard to predict of someone who comes
from a culture that revels in things like:

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,7641714%255E1702,00.html

        ;-)

but, of course, trying to understand Americans' hangups concerning all
matters sexual is a mystery for the ages.

Well, *I* could explain it, but it would take all night.  ;-)

Woohoo woohoo!

I see this is a bit late, but thought I'd reply anyway.

I spent a week in Germany one day...

::grin::

Actually, I found all of Europe much more liberal minded on the subject of
anything to do with sex or male/female relationships than anywhere in the
US.  Even including California.  Well...except for the people in England of
course.  ::big grin::  But, actually, that was back in the late 60's and
early 70's so come to think of it, all those people are now grandparents
like me.  I really don't know anything about the current youth culture.

Never mind...

Hang in

Hi Guy,
That's a good point. Not a great deal has changed I think. In much of Europe
there is far more open flirting going on than in US or Oz. We are far more
conservative when it comes to sexual matters.
Regards, Maree
