While I haven't been diagnosed for having genital herpes, my physician
and I both believe that it was due to the fact that my test wasn't
performed until the sore had almost healed, and that I indeed do have
HSV-1 genitally.  The only person I've been sexual with is my
girlfriend of 2 years.  We were both virgins before we started dating
and neither of us has cheated.  Considering I received HSV-1 from her
performing oral sex on me, is it possible for me to now retransmit it
to her genitally?

I would think it highly unlikely that you would transmit the virus
back to your girlfriend genitally.  After all, she has probably had
oral HSV-1 for some time and, therefore, cannot be reinfected by the
same type elsewhere.  If someone hasn't suggested it already, read the
Herpes Handbook at www.westoverheights.com.  I found this handbook
very helpful.  I passed HSV-1 to my husband during oral sex because I
was clueless that it could happen.....wish I had been given more
information long ago.  If you're like a lot of people (my husband
included) your HSV-1 genitally won't present symptoms often, if ever.
My husband hasn't had another outbreak since the initial one a year
ago.

That's not likely since you already have herpes and so does she.

You can't pass it back and forth like that.. know what I mean?

Hope this helps,

Angela ;)

The weird part is... I had it orally before I got it genitally, so I'm
still uncertain whether or not I truely have it.  I am pretty much in
the dark until i get the symptoms again.

Why do you have to wait until you have symptoms again? If you are want to
know which type of Herpes Simplex Virus that you have then get some proper
testing done. There are a few highly accurate herpes type specific antibody
tests out there.

Here's my herpes testing page full of information about them.

Good luck,

Angela ;)
