Any advice much appreciated....as you can guess am worried.
I have have a tingling in the end of my penis....it started the day after. At
the same time I have had bad gut ache. This has gone on for 6 days. No
blisters yet, but have a couple of small red marks of the end of shaft.
The feeling is not constant, it comes and goes. Its like an acid type of
feeling. No pain when passing water.
Does this sound like a typical outbreak?

rob,
Make an appointment to see your doctor pronto. It may or may not be
herpes, and a healthcare professional will determine that.
I do have some simple questions though: is this the first time you
experienced this? Have you been intimate prior to these symptoms? Have
you ever been tested for herpes type 1 or 2? Again, make seeing a
doctor top priority.

Hi Rob,
There really are no typical first outbreaks with herpes. Some people have
awful outbreaks. Some don't have any outbreaks. And then there are others
who experience a full range of variences.
The only way to determine if you have herpes is to see a doctor. There is
not a single one of us here who can tell you if you have it or not.
See a doctor pronto. Decide about running blood work. It may be best to
wait about three or four months to run the blood work. But if you get in to
see a doctor quickly, he can run a culture on the red marks, if there is
anything to culture. But it has to be done as soon as possible. If you
wait too long, the culture won't be viable.

Rob,
Just like everyone else has said....go see your doctor. Not knowing
what you have is tough...and you definitely want to get help and
support, so go make an appt.
Like AR said, no outbreak is typical...so no one could know what you
have.
If you find out that you do have herpes, it's not the end of the world.
There are lots of nice people here that can be a great source of
support and information for you. :)
Keep your chin up,
Michelle

rob767 ~
It's Monday morning. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment to see your
doctor. Tell he/she that you'd like to have some type specific herpes
antibody testing done so that you can find out once and for all what your
status is. Obviously you are concerned or you would not have posted this in
the alt.support.herpes newsgroup.
Good luck,
Angela

Thank you to everyone for your advice. I have a Doctors appointment tommorrow
and will let you know how it goes.
On my side things haven't got any worse, infact things are getting better. I
dont have the same amount of tingling, though my guts still hurt. I have
general redness in the penis area , but no blisters, Its a week tonight since
my encounter....
Is it likely if i had Herpes that things could appear to be imroving so
quickly, or is it normal for the pain to go away just before the blisters
appear?
How big are typical blisters, are they pin prick size or generally bigger?
Thanks again guys....talking about this is a huge help.

Hi Rob,
I'm glad you have a doctor's appointment.
But again, there is nothing typical about herpes. I cannot tell you if it
is typical for the pain to go away so quickly without blisters. I cannot
tell you what the typical size of a blister is. We all experience our
herpes differently. Sorry we can't be of more help.
