Could someone who has never been symptomatic still be contagious via
shedding?

Thanks.

Yes, unfortunately.

But, the good news is the longer a person has herpes (symptomatic or
asymptomatic), the less they shed.  And, the antivirals, such as Valtrex, do
cut down on shedding.  So, even if someone has never had symptoms, there
still is something they can do to help protect a partner.

Depends on the viral type, where the infection is at, how long since
the initial infection. There are several factors affecting asymptomatic
shedding, perhaps hit Westover Heights Herpes hanbook there for more
info on that.

Please keep in mind B that no matter which type of herpes simplex virus you
have OR where it's located there is always going to be a possibility for
viral activity to be present on the surface of the skin even when there are
no signs OR symptoms that you can see OR feel. No matter the stats OR the
varying degrees asymptomatic shedding is possible in all herpes situations.

Hang in there,
