Money is definitely the route of all evil, isn't it? That was a VERY

All is well ~ it's just been crazy around here and with school starting back
up it makes things even more busy. We are also in the process of selling our
old house. I'm hoping we sell it soon so that we are not having to make two
house payments and pay two sets of utility bills. :)

I agree with article, I think drug reps are way too pushy.
Pharmaceutical companies spend tons and tons on marketing their
products. Do these reps and docs sometimes get too cozy? Sure.

Blame the pharmaceutical companies. They also spend much, much more
money lobbying bureaucrats.

But clearly the premise of this article is not to just condemn all
doctors as being influenced by pharm reps, nothing more than
pill-pushing quacks. There are tons and tons of great docs out there
who don't prescribe anything more than necessary and who really show
compassion and care for their patients. Physicians and surgeons are
heroes, just like firefighters and our young soldiers fighting
overseas. And they should be treated as such.

Who said that "all" doctors were influenced by pharmaceutical reps? Not all
doctors are pill pushers and not all homeopaths are quacks. Everybody is
different and what works for one person doesn't necessarily mean that it's
going to work for another.

PS Were you trying to welcome me back too Eric? ;)

Thank you. I hope Ar reads that. She seems so jaded and cynical when it
comes to physicians.

Yes, it's good to have you back. I'm 99.9% sure that this thing on my
lip is a coldsore so any support you can offer now would be soo
appreciated.
Yoshi2me - 17 Aug 2006 01:22 GMT
No she doesn't.

It's funny that you think she is jaded when it comes to physicians. Do you
realize that you are attacking her experiences with healthcare? She has
health issues that go beyond herpes and her experiences are hers to own. She
was treated very poorly. Does she think all doctors behave that way, of
course not. But you already know this Eric - again you are talking in
circles. Ar and I have both always advocated both sides of the coin. You
think she is jaded and cynical when it comes to physicians and when we read
what you write we think you are jaded and cynical when it comes to OTC
alternatives.

Now for your oral herpes outbreak - what are you planning to do to treat it?
Are you going to ride it out? Are you going to have it cultured so you can
find out for sure if you do indeed have oral herpes?

I don't know..it popped up yesterday (the night prior to yesterday my
lip tingled and itched a bit but I ignored it and went to sleep).
Yesterday and today it has formed a red, swollen spot right where the
lip joins the skin of my face. It doesn't hurt too bad, just feels odd,
definitely not like a zit.

do it Eric. go see the doctor, don't you want to know what you have? I
finally got a specific type herpes test and now I know, so for all of us
here please see a doctor and get a culture of your sore. Inquiring minds
really want to know.
Won't it relieve some pressure just knowing..
