I have contracted genital herpes about a year ago and have found
alot of the information vague.

What I need to know is how long does the symptoms I have will
persist.I am in the stage where I have the clear bumps in clusters which
have continued for about three days, when will they scab over? Is there
any chance they won't scab over.Since this is my third attack will the
time for healing be greatly reduced? Will popping the area to drain
cause even more problems?

As stated before I had this same thing happen about a year ago,May
of 05 the initial attack a reaccurance in May of 06,that was small  I
cannot remember the length of the symptoms, just that it was painful and
embarrassing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Matt,

The reason you have found herpes info vague is because...herpes is rather
vague.  What I mean by that is that everyone experiences their herpes
differently.  There is no set pattern.  So, what lasts two weeks for one
person, may last a few hours for another.

Do not pop the blisters.  I don't believe herpes blisters are full of fluid,
anyway.  But, just leave well enough alone.

If you wish to make your outbreaks shorter, get a prescription for valtrex
and start taking it as soon as you feel the beginning of an outbreak coming
on.

And yes, the longer you have herpes, the shorter the duration should be.
But that isn't a tried and true rule.  Lots of things go into the making of
an outbreak.  So, if your immune system is running a bit low, expect worse
outbreaks.

Take care,
ar
