I recently read in the NY Times about the term "slut" being redefined as a casual thing girls call each other as a joke. At the same time, they talk about the still prevalent stigma associated with a woman having more than one or two partners. I've been with around 12 people. I'm 30. Does that make me a slut? Most were relationships and about 3 were one-nighters. I haven't had any sex in the last 1.5 years. Also, as long as I'm frank about my hpv status, do I have to be honest with the number of people I have been with. It would have been nice to have one partner but it didn't work out that way. D Hi Dannie, How you decide to define yourself is up to you. I think slut is an ugly word and I believe if girls are calling themselves that then they must really have low self-esteem. It is not for me to decide if you've had too many partners and if you are a "slut." I would never presume to make that judgement. And whether you tell your partner this or not is also up to you. I've been with 37 people and I'm 40, so I don't consider myself the male version of a slut, because I consider myself to be a nice person, and someone of good charactor. I don't thing that term should describe the number you've been with, thats something you have to decide for yourself. I lost my virginity late at the age of about 22 I think....I made up for it I guess! Al |
